ever seen the worst day ever flash before your eyes?

sunny day.

dirty car.

time to hit the carwash.

soapy hands.

wedding ring.

down the goddamned drain.

****.

called the "emergency" number posted at the carwash, since the other number was busy. at least the guy was nice. he says it was the worst bay to lose it down, since all of the other bays drain into it, and its like 6' deep to hold 1000 gallons. hes "going to see what he can think of" and give me a call back.

i just got this ring on v-day.

****.

how was your day? icon_biggrin.gif

If you do get it back, clean the ring with every ouce of soap you have and then some.

HAHA, yeah I pulled the huge grate off, and tried to reach down to the bottom. 1: EWW 2: way too deep

I think my arm is rotting off as we speak.

Perhaps I am lucky, though, that the owner claims the **** was pumped out a couple of weeks ago, so it should be mainly water. He is trying to figure out a way to drain it to the bottom, since it isn't designed to drain all the way.

grab one of the 30 dollar submersable pumps and give it to him to use to pump it out. should get it within inches of the bottom. It may take a while though.

a couple of weeks at this time of the year still means massive dirt.

Hell, I've lost TWO - one was sucked off my hand in the Pacific ocean and the other fell out of my pocket during a frog jumping event I took my son to... I'm just getting sick of buying new ones. Good luck.

My mom had the Diamond in her wedding ring fall out of its setting at a national motocross race in Gainesville Florida... we looked for days all over the property for it.

Never found it though, and didn't have the money to replace it... Good luck though, hope you can get it out.

If they figure out a way to get it pumped out and are going to let you search for it, let me know and I will stop over and help.

I would take him up on his offer, but I am all the way in Middleton icon_biggrin.gif Pretty sure he doesn't have a car right now, either.

Plus, only one heterosexual male is going to fit in the muddy hole... lol

Appreciate the offer, though!

my roommates brought there cars for summer, so i actually do have transportation now!

hahahha, well good luck. What is the tank made out, and the ring, any chance could use a metal detector? Then again, there is probably a ton of random metal pieces in the tank...

90% of Jewelers will cover the diamond if it falls out of the setting as long as you pay for the 100 dollar warranty, if you have the receipt.

Well, the ring is back on mah finger.

Bought a $50 pump from Menards, dropped it in the pit, and waited.

And waited. And waited. Holy freaking slow.

90 min and about 500 gallons later, we weren't *quite* to the bottom. Lucky it was a crappy day, and there were no other customers (which would have drained into this pit). 9:00PM rolls around, and some a-hole goes into the automatic. ****. I realize I have minutes before the pit fills up again. So, I jumped in.

Yuck. The nasty ass water started at about ankle level, then quickly rose to knee level. Grabbed the bucket, and started sifting. 2nd bucket out had the ring :)

The old dude that was the attendant was cool as heck, hung out with me and helped where he could, kept me company, and told all sorts of crazy stories. Best carwash ever!

Oh, yeah, and you have NO idea how bad I stank after getting out of that crap...

the ring wasn't scratched?

I think if it had went through the pump it would have looked pretty bad.

It didn't go into the pump. As the pump was pumping, a customer came and used the automatic carwash. Knowing that the hole would fill back up with water ASAP, and that he was almost done, he jumped in and used a bucket to drain the rest of the water. The bucket was used to scoop water out and check for the ring, as it was his only chance before it would fill back up. The ring was in the second bucket...

Even if it was scratched up, at least ya got it icon_smile.gif good job!
