bad revenge- read the link caprice posted, its straight from the highway patrol website and it says you can have any color you want as long as it doesnt flash, oscillate, or rotate.

so this means my white running arround the car is ridding dirty (illegal)

o well i will press my luck on this one

EDIT: read it again and it is kind of general when they say interfere with other drivers... cuz is i got my pretty inferno set to hot pink it could dirstract a nice looking lady driving a dodge caravan which could cause her to crash!

o well i will still press my luck!!!

Well it depends where you drive Wooster PD write tickets for "Impersonating a police officer for ANY red/Blue on the car ... especially the front
My son got popped for Blue windsheild Squirters Yes 2 LED's ... Cost almost $200

I asked the Chief of Police and he stated the same no red / blue no flashing/strobing ..

I've been pulled three times by OSHP and given warnings (only due to a fire department badge)

But hey what do I know ...

I'm pretty sure the reason why your son got a ticket for that is because of where its mounted. Thats a visible light. While the underbody light is only the light reflected off the ground. I spoke to a cop before and he said thats the reason why underbody lights are legal, because of the way they are mounted.

Could have been going to another call.....Probably didnt want to waste his time writing you a ticket for the lights or he was looking at his laptop and didnt see you...

Golden rule wherever you live....NO blue, red, white flashing and make sure nothin is moving...green is most states will get you in trouble as well as its usually reserved for off duty Firefighters.

I think you should buy 900 whelens and then run the inferno on strobe like pattern. Just to see what would happen.

OK, I live in Dayton. UNLESS you live in an area with **** cops, or you get pulled over for driving like a jackass, you won't catch ****. As long as no light movement, strobing, etc. and no lights showing.

Im looking to recreate the knightrider look from reading all this and checking the highway patrol website i dont think i can go with the traditional red black. So im ganna go with KAR instead which is a yellow light on a grey body. my question is this since its not red or blue can it be moving slowly in the grill like the trans am if im not on the highway cause i live south of cinci.

^^ NO

You CANNOT have ANY color strobing or flashing, or wig-wagging thats visible to other drivers.

funny story though.

I was at 7-11 last night and i had my inferno on demo mode, and you can see my 2 1ft tubes, and the cop walks over and is like

"Trent! Nice lights and all, but I notice it does red and blue and it slides with those colors and stuff...thats a no-no...so no red and blue, those are my colors"

me-
"oh okay, so...what about every other color cept that?"

Him
"I dont care if its white, green, purple, turqoise, orange, yellow, or whatever color you could come up with, just NOT red and blue"

in ohio you have to have a white license plate light, but as long as you have the white light you could run any solid color plate frame you wanted.....i think

I live in cincinnati and put a blue light in for the license plate light. Pass cops all the time none have ever done anything I have a different color on for my inferno every night. Once at a gas station a cop came up and said it looked nice. He said just make sure it does not flash when I drive. He never said anything about the light but maybe its just where I live. So as long as its a solid color its fine.

hey all, new to the forums here, but i just placed an order for the ICELED UFO kit with the 3 day express shipping and I live just ten minutes south of Cleveland. Basically what I get from this thread is no flashing red or blue, correct? Well, I'm pretty sure the UFO does plenty of that, so I guess it's no driving with the LED's on for me, unless you can run with no blue or red in it at all.

There is a legal mode on the UFO. Its like Amber and Red.I've talked to a few state troopers, at their Piqua location, and they said Red and blue can be run, but you're asking for trouble.

Here is your code regarding License Plate Lamps: Only White Lights may be used.
Quote:
4513.05 Tail lights and illumination of rear license plate.
(A) Every motor vehicle, trackless trolley, trailer, semitrailer, pole trailer, or vehicle which is being drawn at the end of a train of vehicles shall be equipped with at least one tail light mounted on the rear which, when lighted, shall emit a red light visible from a distance of five hundred feet to the rear, provided that in the case of a train of vehicles only the tail light on the rearmost vehicle need be visible from the distance specified.

Either a tail light or a separate light shall be so constructed and placed as to illuminate with a white light the rear registration plate, when such registration plate is required, and render it legible from a distance of fifty feet to the rear. Any tail light, together with any separate light for illuminating the rear registration plate, shall be so wired as to be lighted whenever the headlights or auxiliary driving lights are lighted, except where separate lighting systems are provided for trailers for the purpose of illuminating such registration plate.

(B) Whoever violates this section shall be punished as provided in section 4513.99 of the Revised Code.

Effective Date: 01-01-2004

NO flashing lights PERIOD:
Quote:
4513.17 Limit on number of lights.
(C)(1) Flashing lights are prohibited on motor vehicles, except as a means for indicating a right or a left turn, or in the presence of a vehicular traffic hazard requiring unusual care in approaching, or overtaking or passing. This prohibition does not apply to emergency vehicles, road service vehicles servicing or towing a disabled vehicle, traffic line stripers, snow plows, rural mail delivery vehicles, vehicles as provided in section 4513.182 of the Revised Code, department of transportation maintenance vehicles, funeral hearses, funeral escort vehicles, and similar equipment operated by the department or local authorities, which shall be equipped with and display, when used on a street or highway for the special purpose necessitating such lights, a flashing, oscillating, or rotating amber light, but shall not display a flashing, oscillating, or rotating light of any other color, nor to vehicles or machinery permitted by section 4513.11 of the Revised Code to have a flashing red light.

As for colors of lights:
Quote:
What colors and types (under body, in-car, etc.) of neon lights are legal?

Lights must not rotate, oscillate, or flash, but state law does not prohibit the use of colored neon lights under your car as long as they do not interfere or blind other drivers.

Ohio Revised Code, section 4513.17 prohibits flashing lights on motor vehicles with the exception of emergency vehicles, turn signals, and hazard flashers.

As long as the neon lights are less than 300 candle power they are not in violation of any State law. If the lights are more than 300 candle power they must be directed to strike the pavement the vehicle sets upon at a distance of no more than 75 feet. The lights can not exceed 500 candle power.

State law requires a white light to illuminate the rear license plate.

This was taken directly from the Ohio State Patrol which is the state agency in charge of all vehicle codes and traffic laws.

Personally I think wherever you live the actually print of the law dont mean jack. Its all on the attitude of the cop. If you poll them I bet you get a mixed reaction on what is and is not allowed. Some dont know the exact print of the law so I think most is left up to what looks justified. If your cruising around lit up like a Christmas tree with red and blue flashing your just asking for tickets but if you cruise around with just red or blue glow with no tubes showing and no flashing or pulsing.. most probly just gonna think "theres another ricer".

My dads a former cop and he told me the law on this is very gray. But generally if you cant see the source of the light and its not flashing or strobe then not to be too worried but be prepared for the one cop who dont like them to pull you over and give you a ticket, even if its not for the lights. Just having the glow makes you stick out and makes them look all the more closer at you.
