Geez, Phil looks younger than me. And thats young. I think I can beat you up . We'll meet at the flag pole after school, 3 o clock, bring some LEDs.

dont think phil would ever talk ****. cause if he did someone would swiftly give him a kick in the ass and remind him of how young and quite small he is.

Quote:
phil ever since i saw your pic the advice you give seems way less important. you had in my mind a mental picture of someone older but now i feel like you just dont know as much. i mean im sure you do but its like when you read a book then see the movie its just not as good because its not how you pictured it.

alright... that's a little more than two cents... it's overkill maybe once was enough... but have some respect. he works his ass off to get you good prices and such, and everyone's always like "phil's awesome" well maybe if he was older he wouldn't care about getting you good prices and such as much, he'd care more about making money off of you, so why don't you respect him for that.

you said it once... you said it twice... three times is too much. it's over... whatever... how old are you? obviously not old enough to understand how immature you're acting. i'm done with you now.

Be quiet now. Anybody who says anything negative from here on out will be dealt with, and not in a nice way. ANYBODY.

Well one way to look at it: You should feel honored to have done business with me now, because eventually I will be older and you can say, wow I knew him when he was just 18, look what he is doing now.

Man I think that it is so awsome how phil manages this site and his customers, plus school! All of the 18 year olds I know are lazy ass guys who just go around gettin wasted, I highly respect you for that, lol man, you have like a cult following. on another note, we have all read the "how the oznium name was created" story, but I think it would be awsome if you could tell us what got you interested in automotive lighting/moding, and give us a little better picture of what the actual buisness is like, or even "a day in the life of phil suslow" story, like when you get an order, what do you do, how do you keep your merch organized etc. etc. once again, thanks for the great site and company and keep up the good work

The future of Oznium:

I will most likely move to California or Arizona in the future. Phil and I will combine forces, start an office / shop, and run both businesses together.

I said it before and I'll say it again. I don't give a **** how old someone is (or how young) or how they look. If I were to get into running a business with anyone, it would be Phil. He's reliable, dependable, has customer service skills, goes out of his way to make people happy. I'd much rather go into business with him and take my chances with an 18 year old, then go into business with a 40 year old because "he should be mature by now".

The true measurement of a man is not in how tall he is, how old he is, or what color hair he has. It's in his actions. I've actually considered asking Phil if he was interested in expanding the business with some idea's I had, but as of recently, work is kind of iffy and I want to make sure I can afford to live before I take on the added burden of a business. Bills still gotta be paid, even if nothing is made at first in the business =P But I'd definately go into business with him. He's one of the few people I've met who would actually put just as much time and effort into the business as I would. That says a lot to me.

I agree with Mav.

I probably met Phil a different way than most of you. Since we live(d) like 5 miles from each other I knew him as a fellow teenager rather than the owner of Oznium (well, that too), and when I first met him and found out he ran such a professional site I was impressed. He does everything any other professional site does, like business licenses and all that fun stuff you and I most likely know nothing about, and MORE. Like he said, he will wake up at 8 a.m. or answer calls late at night to take orders for you *****. He also graces us with his presence on these forums. I don't know of any other companies that do that (StreetGlow sort of does..) I think we're all very lucky to have a site like Oznium and a dude like Phil helping us out. Whoever said someone older would probably charge more is probably right. I have no idea how much money Oznium pulls in but I'm guessing it could pull a lot more if Phil charged more, but he doesn't (and probably doesn't need to since he doesn't have a family to support.........I don't think he does....Phil, any little Phils running around yet?)

Nope no mini me's.

Oznium just became an LLC, so now it is officially Oznium LLC. Soon I'll get the name trademarked with the USPTO.

When I first started talking to the owner of Iceled, I remember him asking if I had any kids, I laughed and said no, I'm only 18. I guess he was suprised at first, but that doesn't affect our business relationship. I've been able to bring him tens of thousands of dollars in sales, and there is a verbal contract that Oznium is the north american distributor. Despite the poor value of the US dollar in recent months, the domestic Iceled prices have not gone up, and the price for the UFO kit is about $100 cheaper in the US, than anywhere else in the world.

For some of you wondering how the "operations" work:

LEDs are stored in small plastic boxes along with resistors. Each one is counted by me, or a friend if I can enslave some free labor. Once they are counted to the order specifications, an open bag is placed over a large funnel. The mouth of the funnel is placed up to the edge of a desk and the LEDs/resistors are scooped into the funnel.

A business card or two is stuck into a padded envelope (I've got about 500 of these envelopes), and the LEDs are are put in. A label is printed on a Dymo thermal label printer, making it look all professional.

I either put stamps on it or take it to the post office on my trip.

I tend to package things as soon as an order comes in. Whatever I'm doing, I'll put it down and go package the order. It might not be the most efficient way, but it is an impulse that makes me do this.

Some orders are "dropshipped", or sent from another location. Sometimes they are directly from PlasmaGlow, or another distributor. The big stuff that I sell a lot of will be stocked in my house (actually my parent's house).

Right now the product line is very limited, and concentrated to a small genre. I do see a need for additions, but right now it is important for me to concentrate on a solid infastructure. A accounting system built into the web store, an inventory system, and order management system to allow rapid expansion.

Once these things are in place, audio can be added, heck, streetglow might be added, and Oznium will turn into more of a full service car shop. The next logical step will be a more commercial office with a warehouse and a couple employees. This could be a few years away, but by then Oznium should be well prepared for growth.

Hopefully by then, I'll learn a thing or two at the W.P. Carey School of Business at ASU.

Any more questions about the workings of Oznium, just ask me. ok?

I'm impressed as hell, even moreso knowing some of this background info. Many businesses started by older people often fail. To run a business, go to school, and still be a teenager is 3 full-time jobs. Age does not mean maturity, as most of us know. A "great leveling factor" of the Internet, is that an 18 year old can start a fairly large business, and nobody has to have a biased opinion about him if he doesn't want to divulge his age.

In 10 years, when Oznium starts buying other companies, like SG and PG, we can all say, "I knew Phil before he could legally drink!" I can almost picture Phil having a large corporation in a few years, with LEDs and a UB kit on his corporate jet... biglaugh.gif (hint, hint, DragonJeep icon_wink.gif icon_smile.gif )

Keep up the good work.

anyone play gituar? ever head of renegadeolga.com? it was basically for guitar tabs and such.

my friend in High school started this web page when he was a freshman, it was huge in 1 year, with over 1 million hit/daily. he even had a T1 line installed to host everything. and then all the big record companies filed suite against him for copyright infringment. he went thru more by the time he was a junion then most people do in a lifetime.

OK now I feel old. puppy_dog_eyes.gif My 20 y/o nephew told me about this site a while back b/c I was trying to make my own LED emergency light. Now I see the age of you guys, 17 - 18 - 26? Pfftt!!! biglaugh.gif I'm old enough to be Phil's father! (but I'm not!! icon_eek.gif ) I have an 18 y/o stepson and 5 other youger kids combined. Phil, any senior citizen discounts? *LOL Obviously maturity isn't as much an age thing around here as it is....just being mature. (some will understand, others won't) I just stop in occasionally to see what's going on, always enjoy seeing the latest! I'm a bit of a 'techy' kind of guy. Let's keep it fun!

Yes the Internet is odd yet great. As GoldenRod mentioned, the Internet has that "great leveling factor". If I were to guess how old you were based on your post (minus the references to your age) I would have guessed mid-teens to early-20's (for some reason I just can't picture adults using "LOL" and emoticons, except my friend's mother who constantly IMs me on AIM and is extremely annoying)...and if people we're to guess the age of Phil based on Oznium and his professionalism they would guess he was a lot older than he is.

At 31, I'm getting to that age of "I could be your father!".... in my karate class, quite a few of the students are 14-16. I find it funny, though, when they start bragging about what games they have, and what stuff their parents got them, while I'm thinking... "Well, I have two new cars, and am spending around $1000 just to put some lights on one of them!"... biglaugh.gif

I think its cool that people of all ages can come to this site and have a good time and get usefull information. I personally am 16 and just got my license about 7 mo. ago but from visting this site daily I have learned all i need to know to install and repair automotive lighting. I also would like to thank the internet, because if it wasnt for the internet, my truck would not glow, and we all know, all work and no glow makes me a sad...sad man. So internet I would like to tell you, your my hero biglaugh.gif

i just have one thing to say to the people that had their views change on phil now because of his age. you are all some ignorant people. you didnt seem to have a problem with him when you didn't know his age, now all of a sudden he says how old he is and you got the haters. don't be jealous because hes making more $$ than you and your older than him.

But, if you were a distributor, nothing would get to the customers, it would all go on your car! biglaugh.gif

which ultimately means more buisness for Phil!!! what's wrong with that now?

You'd probably need a heavy-duty suspension to support everything! icon_cool.gif icon_lol.gif

You know how movie stars have hair stylists follow them all over the world, and only work on that one person? Maybe Phil can be A2I's personal light distributor.... icon_biggrin.gif
Oh, wait, then how do we get lights? ... hmmmm.... gotta work on that.... ozzy_change.gif

The next logical step will be a more commercial office with a warehouse and a couple employees. This could be a few years away, but by then Oznium should be well prepared for growth.

well, the fact that they are one of the most retarded animals i've ever seen makes it kind of easy... plus, i've grown up around animals for most of my life, and it's part of the culture here. i'm sure if you grew up in rural ohio you would be completely ok with butchering a cow and then having steaks that very night icon_smile.gif also, there's just something about fresh food (just butchered or just picked from the garden) that makes it better...
