excatly what it says in the subject...can i use the cathodes with out the transformer?

Well there is a reason why they come with a tranny. If they could then why bother including it?

Not unless you have a low amperage ~600V AC source...

buy a transformer for 3.99 from CVC or whatever that one site is. I dont think phil sells transformers seperatly yet...
