last night our car club columbusracing went out like we always do and i was riding shotgun with another car that was racing....twin turbo rx-7...and we had in a few pulls and such when cops flew up on us and helicopters and such.....it was a bad night. All the passengers were let go no charges filed but 8 of the other drivers are still there. A high HP camaro, few Z06's , my roommates and mine RX-7 and some others were all towed away.

and leave the you shouldnt have been doing it out of this we all knew what we were in for if we ever got caught and now a few will pay the price

it was tipped off by someone we were doing it that night and where we would be at

Nice, what area? On 270?

I was questioned once, they thought I was "street racer". I was running around the Hilliard area on 270 at the time.

How much is it going to cost to get your car back?

Just be glad your laws are not harsher....in Cali they will impound the vehicle and sell it at auction...you get caught enough, and they will CRUSH the vehicle and then make you pay to dispose of it.

In Washington simply watching a street race could land you a $1,000 fine....

Personally, I think if your caught street racing, your car should be confiscated and destroyed and your license should be revoked for 5 years. Street racing just proves how irresponsible and juvinile you are. All it takes is for one small mistake or loose bolt to send you flying into someone. I hate to be the one to say it, but its true. KEEP IT ON THE TRACKS!

There's some 17 year old in my town with a mustang that put flowmasters on it. Everything is stock and he tries to race everyone and swears he has the fastest car in Texas. It's pretty funny. biglaugh.gif

I can agree with keep it on the tracks, but i think it may be harsh to generalize.

I don't street race because of my history as well as my choice in racing style. It is unfortunate about what happened and to such a nice car. Was it a FC or FD?

don't look to get it back anytime soon....be prepared to have it impounded for 30 days and then released to the owner once they pay the storage fees to the police department...

and dont expect to get anything back with the vehicle that was illegal...good chance it will be stripped by the police deparment and disposed of.

Also makes it hard for you to argue that it wasnt being used. You had the vehicle on a public roadway with the illegal modifications etc so they will use that if you try and take them to court.

Hate to say it, but you haven't even seen the worst of this situation yet for your car or your buddy...You as a passenger will get off easier (did they issue you a citation?)

It's not like they race in traffic. You have problems when you have stupid kids racing around pedestrians and other vehicles.

i got questioned and let go this morning but my roommate was released a little bit ago finally after his uncle came and got him.....i didnt get cited with anything but the are shooting for 6 months in jail and 1000 fine and 3 yrs no DL for everyone who was driving

the car was an FD and we should be able to get it back either tomorrow or monday...lawyers FTW

and yes we all know its illegal so no need to hear it over and over again....we all knew the price of what we were doing...im sure you have broken the law at some point you just didnt get caught we did and we shall face our punishments

and i am not juvenile at all this was all done at 1am no other cars were on the road still not right but it was still some fun races had a lot of good pulls lol...just not quite worth all the hassle

tell that to the families of those that have died because the turned onto a street and were hit by a vehicle doing 65-80 MPH...

even if you shut the street down....eventually you will have an accident.

IMO its hard to justify someone dying in a street racing accident....waste of a life as there is nothing to gain if you win and everything to lose if something goes wrong...

Justin, I saw this on the news last night, right before I fell asleep. It showed a picture of like 10 guys? Maybe 12? I dunno.

Q45guy wrote:

Yep, and who doesn't break the law. Some people jaywalk and some people rob banks, depends on what extreme you want to take it to. None of it is okay but I'm not going to sit here and complain on a forum and point out the obvious to a guy that knows all of this already.

I guess you gotta live here to know that no bystander can just "turn" onto the road they were on. On ramps are visible and a smart driver is watching for that. Actually it's hard to miss.

On a side note,
It kills me when other members are posting like they are your "dad" or something. We all know right and wrong, no need for a lecture.

You can't post anything anymore without someone hopping on their high horse and the topic being over analyzed, poked, prodded, and shot down.

Not trying to start an argument, just stating the truth on Oznium. On other boards you don't have this many, what I would call, "RIGHTEOUS POSTERS!" That's why I hardly ever post new threads here. I don't want or need a life lesson. icon_rolleyes.gif

hahaha

When I would run I would run ;) Never been caught knock on wood ;)

With the broken ankle I think it kinda brought me back to reality though... shifting sucks now it hurts so so bad... the slighest BUMP or pressure ouch..

Nice, but from what he said they had the road all blocked off and were ready for them to show up. Guess the most depressing thing would have been to watch all the works of art being dragged away. icon_cry.gif

i can see why it's illegal.. living here theres only a drag strip that is half an hour away, unless you like racing go-karts at the local fun-plex (boring slowness)... i see people doing it all the time on the main street here, almost every1 does it.. well atleast teenagers.. lol. my friend raced a new eclipse driven by a girl that was spoiled and said "i just got it, i don't know how it works" lol...

well hopefully you get your car back and it isn't auctioned off or destroyed. icon_biggrin.gif

I rolled with the CR crew a few times back in high school. I can vouch that they are a lot more mature then most of you think. Sure, they race illegally, but it's some of the safest "illegal racing" that I've ever seen. icon_confused.gif

Sounds to me like they're taking the consequences and not ***** about it... sleeping.gif

And here he is crying because people are telling him how much of an idiot he is, I love this quote:

A 'smart' driver doesn't race on a 'kinda' closed road where a 'kinda' smart guy is making sure he doesn't see any other traffic.

They have three headed to the crushers up here in Akron as soon as the last appeal is heard ... Supra, Evo and WRX , all got caught at the same speed on a closed freshly paved highway

After hearing a couple of these reports, there has been several of these 'crushings' over turned...

I see a mass appeal of this 'law' because destroying a person's property is still 'wrong' in many eyes.

Even though they broke the law and were tried and convicted. The property still remains theirs, that is why you must pay to have it disposed.
