well since justinwebb **** me out of 300$ and a carpc. i thought i would try this again, this time making my own ****, and of course buying from good sources. headunit is kinda unknown to most, but with an 18 month warrenty i shouldnt worry till about 1 year from now.
headunit: Xenarc x7000 Computer: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard JetWay JNC62K AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8200 Mini ITX AMD Motherboard G.SKILL 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory AMD Athlon X2 4850e 2.5GHz Socket AM2 45W Dual-Core Processor HIPER HFC-20820-C1 80mm EBR ROHS Certified CPU Cooler power supply: M3-ATX Power Supply custom acyrlic case. and usb wi-fi dongle. maybe: SIIG 16.4 ft. Find a cube case or a micro cube and put under the seat maybe? Or make a mid section between the two back seats that causes the hump?! for easy access.

Wait dood take an old gamecube case if it's the same as a cube case and put it in that. My roommate has an old broken Gamecube that black. I am sure if it would fit the same he could igve it to you for a VERY small price and some shipping. That would be wicked.

well the under the seat sounds good, back seat is kinda bad, i live in a town with some what of a reputation, car already gets eyed for the rims, cant hit the bass. have to be going to work or coming home to play loud. lol sucks
robbie: i already made the bottem of the case at work already out of acrylic, all ITX motherboards are the same, so it was a matter of finding dimentions. but that would be cool with the game cube. |

head unit alone is 770$ and the computer and stuff to make it run is close to $500. im making my own custom case out of acrylic so thats about $15 for the 3 sheets i need.
im new at this too, so im just hoping i buy all the right stuff lol. the power supply for the computer is the hardest IMO. www.customcarputers.com thats where i got the headunit and power supply. |

Destroying things in a fit of rage... Glad to know I'm not the only one
Wish I had access to the plexi n the cnc cutter but either way it'll look killer and everytime I look at Carpc's I start saying "hmmm"... and then remind myself I've got TOO many damned projects to do first

Saf-T-Lok Instant Bonder. which worked INCREDIBLY.
new case im gonna tap and drill into some 90 degree pieces of acrylic, because the glue is just way to strong. and this way i can take it apart if anything goes wrong, or if i wanna change out the ITX motherboard. |

heres an update.
back of the case was to flimsy and to thin for clear angle brackets i found so made some 1/4" brackets for the outside. hard to do with out a drill press DOH! Cheap Clamps
Soap makes for great lube!
Longer side of bottem tapped holes(M4x0.7), use soap as lube!
another view
drill into other flimsy side.
Testing i know the holes are crooked but oh well no ones gonna be looking at the bottem right!?
Made hard drive slides to allow for better spacing if something gets in the way. also added the rubber as a cushion, we'll see if that works.
also tapped the holes for the motherboard, umm spacers? err risers! which is M3x0.50 if you were ever wondering.
gotta cut the rubber, haha.... also gotta wait for the motherboard to come back from RMA

Frustrating, Xenarc wont get back to me about RMAing my x7000 i was half way through the case making supports for the bottem, then i said hmm i should try it out, relized head unit didnt want to accept DVI or AGP. so i kind gave up and taped up the sides and top lol now its sitting in my closet.
heres some pics.
but yeah thanks for the intrest, if i were to make it again i would do it out of 1/4" Acrylic much stronger. after getting done with it too i wish i would of made the power supply inside the case with the computer instead of outside. |
