Anyone know if there is anything I have to get with it? Or Is it just like "direct" replacement? Cause on one of the JVC a/v headunits you needed a little adapter and computer and ****.

Most anything from Pioneer is going to be good, but Alpine's new line has seamless iPod capability, and Clarion's looks really sleek imo.

$5000? Sheesh I can think of a lot of better things to put that money towards. But then again I'm old and boring now. Would've loved that kind of car budget a few years ago, haha.

I was looking at double din units...but they are too tall for my dash. If they were wider and not as tall it would work.

Most units have an external "brain" (especially the single DIN models), but they are always included. The only "adapater" you may need it a dash wiring kit for your vehicle, so you don't have a wiring mess to deal with.

Those things he's talking about ^^ you can get at walmart or ask the installer at bb or cc and they'll have one for your vehicle. They save you from having to cut into your stock wiring, and having to look up wiring color codes for your vehicle. Also look into a dash kit like this

So there isn't a gap around the new radio.

I'm a big Alpine fan for head units. I"m using an old school IVA D310, but there are 2 new fold out video head units available:

IVA D105 and D106
