It sucked. Wouldnt lie to you. Felt horrible being cooped up all the time.
so heres how it worked out june 26th was initial surgery went perfect was out a week later on the July 1st i believe. July 6th or 7th i spike a 105 fever sleep all day not eating or drinking. go to the hospital over the course of a week and a half i have three surgeries first two were called IND's in which they reopened my scar and washed out my back where they found huge pockets of infection. We believe now that the cause was my body rejecting the cadaver bone they used originally as my grafts on my spine because during surgery they found the peices just floating around and sucked those out i spent a week with my back just open and bandaged so basically when they took the bandages off you could see my spine i have pics. third surgery at the week and a half mark my doctor returned finally from a conference in Honkong and did the final IND unfortunately because of the missing grafts he got to call my mom midsurgery and get verbal consent to take bone from my pelvis. So he replaced the grafts and closed me up. I have interior sutures and also exterior stitches. The scar runs from my neck to my bottom of back. tallest patient they ever remember working on height changes went in 6'2" came out 6'6" yep pics up soon. sitting at home nursing an injured butt and trying to find comfy chairs |

Modern medicine is **** amazing. It can cure some truly unreal conditions, but has the potential to wreak havoc... Glad to hear you're finally out and doing well.
Curious on this as well, as I am a person with a messed up back/neck (and have family history of such). |

Damn man! I was in the hospital for like 3 weeks all because of crushed bone... I was doped up though and have video somewhere of one of my friends making me some some weird ****...
Man dude hope you get better and soon man! Careful with the pain meds... I got a bad addiction to mine after about a week, I felt like I had to have them... now my foot is just cold and slowly getting feeling back tho.. haha Will your sutures dissolve? |

Kyphosis is a bend of the spine much like scoliosis but in the opposite direction
bad thing is i had both i had a S curve kyphosis bend down the whole spine but then on the upper part of the S i had a S scoliosis bend but basically my back looked like this when bent over. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyphosis and they use rods and screws along my spine to flatten me out |

Ok for all that asked for pics
here we go Before surgery how my back looked sitting down at work
Xrays of before and after
After surgery sitting in chair
After First and Second Infection cleanings. the white is sterile gauze but you can still see some meat
and pre initial surgery pic for laughs
now onto 49 stitches plus interior sutures then interior sutures on the hip scar [/img]

Could you move when your back was open like that, or did you have to just lay there? That's freaky stuff...

omg i could move fine when my back was open.
but after my first surgery i blacked out and fell down so they kept me in wheelchairs the rest of the time. which sucked cause all i did was walk around the hospital and visit with the nurses and what not. but i can bend my spine from anymore its been fused |

So was it worth it to get the surgery to correct the issue?
I'm not belittling it, just wondering if in your opinion you'd rather go through a month of this stuff or have that messed up back forever? |
