Got a little bored so I started messing with the OPTX LED kit and my new JL W6's. I think I might just install the box with the tubes on it when it goes in the truck.

not bad, not bad... are the LEDs pointing straight out? i bet it might look a little better (less direct LED viewing) if the they were pointed at the subs a little bit, IMO...

It's the OPTX LED kit. Like any other LED kit, it comes with a built in music interface mode.

yes, a cap would help...but the REAL fix is a new alternator (hi output)

woooorrrrrd.....caps suck for high watt systems. you have to buy a million of them when an alternator is better and more efficient. a high output alternator that is.

The best, cheapest upgrade for better performance for your electrical system is to upgrade the "Big Three" - which is mainly creating better grounds for your battery and whatnot, using better terminals, etc. Allows for a better current and quicker reactions to things like bass notes.

Don't recall the name of the product, but in some mag there was an install of a "super ground" or something. it was good, but not as great as advertised, lol

sure, supergrounding is when you reground you battery and engine and all... they only have like 8 or 10awg wire.

a cap does help for high current systems if done right. Even if you have 300amp alternator, and 1/0 awg wire, and a battery in the trunk... point of the cap is to bring all that electricity as close to the amp as possible. During an SPL Blurb, you'll notice the cap probably won't help much (PG sells an Alumipro cap that's 20 farad... that helps allot) because the blurbs are like 30 seconds or so. but for real songs, the cap will help with each bass drop, to give you that stiffer, more responsive edge.

you only need huge cable for long runs. think about it. you have (awg wire, but the fuse is only like 10 awg thickness at most. then the power inside the amp running to the board is only like at most 8awg wire. the power supply never had more than 14awg windings. it's that distance from the battery to the amps that kills your bass responce. get a cap in there and it's storing power and more readily releases power than a battery would also.

yeah caps basically flatten out the voltage level...they charge during the low power consumption then discharge during deep bass hits, then recharge then discharge, etc etc.

right now i have a 1200 watt amp hooked up to a 1.5 farad cap with 4 awg wiring, then 4 awg to the stock battery and ground. it works pretty well and there's not to much headlight dimming. it's fine for a mid range system, there's no way I would pull out the stock alternator on a pretty much brand new car unless I didn't mind voiding the warranty...

you'll find 1/0awg wire to be damn near crazy in price... cheapest is like $2/foot... then shipping... so really around $3-4 foot.

here's some standard readings for 1/2 volt drop @ 15ft cable run....
0 awg 334 amps 2763 watts
1 awg 265 amps 2193 watts
2 awg 210 amps 1740 watts
3 awg 167 amps 1381 watts
4 awg 132 amps 1096 watts
5 awg 105 amps 870 watts
6 awg 83.4 amps 690 watts
7 awg 66.2 amps 548 watts
8 awg 52.5 amps 435 watts
9 awg 41.7 amps 375 watts
10 awg 33.1 amps 273 watts
11 awg 26.3 amps 217 watts
12 awg 20.84 amps 172 watts
13 awg 16.54 amps 137 watts
14 awg 13.13 amps 109 watts
15 awg 10.42 amps 86 watts
16 awg 8.27 amps 69 watts
17 awg 6.56 amps 54 watts
18 awg 5.21 amps 43 watts
19 awg 4.13 amps 34 watts
20 awg 3.28 amps 27 watts
21 awg 2.60 amps 21 watts

if you're at 1 ft, 8awg can handle 2,000 watts. so from the cap to the amp... (around 1ft) a 8awg wire is equal to 1 awg wire all the way from the battery.

I've read almost every page in their catalog and never read anything about not being able to order... the only restriction is that the order must be above 25$ before shipping costs.

This was in the FAQ.

"Does Del City have contracts with distributors?
Del City does not have exclusive contracts with distributors. Anyone who would like to purchase Del City products can do so by phone, mail, fax or online at www.delcity.net
"
