Yep, they definitely came with 4-bangers. The old Mustang II did, and there were some fox bodies as well. The SVO was a turbo 4.

If it is a new model w/ a 4 banger then they got the shaft. Someone must have switched engines.

4 banger Mustang = crap. All the old 4 bangers were dog slow as well.

they shouldnt be allowed to buy a car if they dont even know what engine it comes with...proof they have no clue what they are doing...

4 banger mustangs havent been around since the 80's I believe and the only decent one was the SVO with the turbo 4....which is a kickass ride..

its either a V6 or 8....Ford doesnt make a 4 banger for the mustang...its too heavy and would be slower than a kia icon_wink.gif

Four cylinder Mustang were available from 74' to 78' in the Mustang II's and from 79' to 93' in the Fox body Mustangs. icon_smile.gif

Damn, mine gets 18 city/26 highway and it's a GT (but it is a 2003, not a new one).

Just ask the owner if it has a big "GT" badge on the side, dual exhaust, and fog lights. If it's missing one of those then it's a 6 cylinder. If it has all of those it MIGHT be a GT (could be a rebadged sixer). Another easy option is to type the VIN number into google.

i like the open the hood and count method.
if you dont know mustangs too well to be able to tell by trim wheels/badges/fogs-accessories, just count the cylinders.

Count the cylinders? Hell you should not even have to do that. Just open the hood and if the engine is not a V then it is a 4 banger.

they had a picture NO GT and no duallies.

pretty damn sure they wouldn't be making 4 cyl mustangs.. thats why they make Foci.
