Why the list of Best Buy / Circuit City Subs? Check out the Fi link tedy posted for JL quality without the JL price. JL is the best out of the bunch you posted. Also check out AudioQue, SSA, RE, eD, DD, Sundown, and SI.

http://sundownaudio.com/

For amps check out Hifonics, they make good amps at a lower price but they'll be a little overrated. I think AQ and SSA also make amps, but I'm not sure. Sundown amps are pretty much the best amps out right now.

digital designs (DD9500) and FI (FI BTL) for sure.. go with this stuff.

1. no one who uses JL and so forth has ever heard of it, you they'll be like.. "yea right"

2. fire it up and make them WISH they're "top of the line" JL system could compete with you 1 10" woofer getting 2000 wrms making old ladies have heart attacks .

basically... if you run 4 12" DD9500s or 4 12" FI BTLs, you will blow your car apart, lol.

no joke dude, it'd be monstrous. Make dam sure to build the boxes right, too. If you only have room to PROPERLY box 2 12"s, ONLY run 2 12"s. Just because you can fit 4 12"s in improper boxes doesn't mean it'll be loud.

Also, you're gonna need a lot of power for this stuff, make sure to be ready to buy great amp/s, lots of 0 gauge wire, and probably a bigger alt and another battery.

Lol anything would be a step up from your two Explodes. I don't see a way you're going to fit four 12s without losing the back seats. As he said, don't run more than you can fit. The recommended airspace isn't for **** and giggles. If you're strained for space, go sealed. You'll be able to get more airspace out of fiberglass but for the kind of power you'll be running to any of the subs I listed you'll need a very strong fiberglass box with a lot of reinforcement.

I got a JL 12w6v2 hooked up to 400w RMS and I love it. Been contemplating hooking it up to a Alpine PDX 1.600 amp, but I need a new HU first...

you have so many options outside of these brands for monster bass, you have no idea. Audiopulse has some beastly drivers, what will limit you is your wallet.

**** boss btw lol, not for monster bass.

Dumbest sub ever. My friend owns a audio store. He has one of those set up in a car. And he has 2 12s (not sure of brand) in another car. The jackhammer cost more than the other set up and the other set up was louder and sounded WAY better. And the jackhammer is so damn big is is retarded.

Boss?....you're trying to go cheap tbh. Boss is like the Kia of audio...well no I guess Audiobahn would be...look nice, perform poorly. Boss would be the beat up ghetto El Camino...What is your budget?

Again, diamond audio. I had d1's. The lowest. 88 bucks. Hit stupid hard and were clear as day.

They are amazing have to find a dealer though.

Good luck getting your 'monster bass' out of hundred dollar subs.

Type R's are a good choice in that price range that can take some abuse. Anything else just won't take enough power to make it worth your while.

I have one of those exact amps, PM me if you're interested.

if you build a proper box for the type r's, their accuracy in unbelievable. I would pit my system against anyone boasting a system in a similar price range as my setup in an accuracy contest. My subs are very tight, i listen to alot of techno and accuracy is kind of a must when you are listening to 120bpm music. You can also take them the other way and hit 141db with 4 like typerbass did when he was apart of oznium some years ago.

I like how as soon as anyone mentions wanting a sub immediately people shout out the high end brands first.

I'm not much into the entire monster bass or sound quality, but I am more than happy with the pioneer 12" sub I picked up about 6 years ago for $70. Its. plenty loud and more than serves the purpose.

Not everyone is like that though. I would much rather have my 2 JLs over one pioneer any day.

I know this well, I was just trying to get the point across that not everyone needs/wants to speed $300 on a sub. I now that I will never spend that much. I have what IMO is a good system. Most everything I have was bought a decent price and came from recommendations from a good friend of mine whom worked in the Car Audio biz for years. The sub I did buy on my own accord, but for the price I don't think there is anything out there better.

Gotta agree with Korn and TRogers. When I was first looking at subs, I was set on the Alpine Type R because they are the epitome of "bang for your buck". Well chance just worked out and my friend sold me his 12w6v2 which he owned less than 3 months (his parents wouldn't let him keep it lol). Worked out well for me because I heard a Type R in another friend's SUV and to be honest, I'm glad I didn't end up with a Type R. Sure it hits, but the tight bass and the ability for the Type R to hit a wide range of notes is not even close to my 12w6. Just an obseration. But again, for your price range, Type R is a good bet.

About what TRogers said, I'm also a big Memphis fan. I don't know why but they have never gotten the credit they deserve...
