get serious. i believe its actually tricking it lean to have an afm of around 13 or some ****.
basically what your doing is getting your cylinders close to detonation, which in your case with nothing done to your motor im assuming, you probably wont hit detonation levels and will feel a little something, probably just getting that weight of the 10 bucks out of your pocket. if you want actual performance expect to spend gaggle-**** of money with very little gains for a while to have something reliable and fast. best bet, save some money up open your intake up a bit cam it with a slight advance on intake and retard on exhaust to give you a bit of a mid range feel, you'll loose in the high rpm's but your driving a cougar so it wouldnt be much of a loss. free your exhaust up a bit whatever means you deam necessary but having a 3 inch exhaust tabbed to a fartcannon will just make people laugh at you. that right there will probably be a bit more than the 10 dollar budget for that chip, but if you did it that way instead of going ebay performance, you probably wouldnt be called that big of a ricer. plus cam work would get you some respect as it is not done enough anymore. kids throw on a cai and ebay exhaust and believe the ad's that say 20+ hp gain. (/end rant) |

A good chip can do good things IMO.
For the foci they offer through diablosport a chip and ECU tune that is REALLY good. Then again your gonna pay out the ass for a quality ECU setup like that. I agree though save your money and buy stuff that will help. Custom work will always out do bought work. If your engine like my friends, he has a cougar, which is a duratec. Best things for them and ZETEC air in air out. Headers, Intake, new bigger TB, and exhaust are some of the single best bolt ons you can put. 2.5 would be good for the exahaust with out being stupid big and losing power since you have a bigger engine. Look into magnaflow and borla they make good stuff. |

i got a muffler for free from a friend, have no clue what brand but i got it put on about a week ago. sounds nice. and i was looking into getting the AEM short ram intake. i dont know much about cars (other than electric) so going custom probably isnt my route.

alright. a cai and muffler dont make your car any faster. think of it this way. your motor is a tunnel starting with the intake ending exhaust.
if you have a 3" opening leading to a 2" opening, then a long 2" exit with a 3" exit hole at the end. you really arent going to be able to fit a 3" ball all the way through. work on intake and exhaust manifolds, breathing right from mouth to **** and all the fancy things to turn in between. |
