You want to do a swap and sell it at the same time?

I worked as a mechanic for two years and never swapped a motor in a saturn for something other than an original.

But with enough money, anything can be done.

I'd say sell the car.

you wouldn't get the money you spent putting the engine in back when you do sell the car... most people who get saturns are fine with it being slow sooo i would just sell it, if you want speed maybe get something a little older (for cost reasons). sorry a-ray if this offends you in anyway, shape or form.

get a different car.
think about the supporting things that would need to be done for a larger motor. the engine bay you have is pretty small im assuming, and if you wanted a larger engine you would need to weld up a new subframe not to mention rear frame if you did a rwd conversion.
your current car is an eco-box, its not designed to go fast, i would say if your serious about go fast parts, start on a decent platform to do so.

^^ Eh kinda true but not always.

I have a friend who swapped a 2.5 D-Tec SVT contour engine into his hatch back ZX3. Basically a cougar engine. Went right in for the most part a few custom mounts made other than that no reinforcing. So a small lighter V6 could be done pretty easily. At least i would think.

what about drive axles? fuel pump? battery location? steering clearance? brake hub clearance?
small engine bays suck at swaps
theres no easy motor swap unless its oem to oem. the custom mounts your buddy had to use were probably mounted to the current subframe, but it was ford to ford. gm to gm his smallest v6 option would be a 2.8 or so which i would take an educated guess in saying it will need subframe work. for your buddy he got lucky or read on a forum that they almost bolt right up.

Focus Fanatics FTW. But not really he read a little genrally most Contour and Focus parts can be changed easy. It runs off his stock drive stuff brakes and nothing of the sort had to be changed. The mounts had to be changed because the ones on the motor were rusted and of questionable quality. So ford did them.

Now couldnt he go ecotec maybe? Say the 2.0 and then supercharge it? Wouldn't be to hard to fab stuff for it and parts are readily available?

Yep i have absolutely no idea. I don't know that a contour engine will swap. I also don't know a 351 will go in a focus.

I don't know anything. I asked rags because he may know GM better than me. And i know the 2.0 ecotec is a fairly decent motor.

an ecotec would be fine, but its all of .1-.5 more literage for his car. from the sounds of it, he is looking for some sort of displacement. it would be an alright swap, however i still think he should get out of the "tuner" eco-box world

Don't get a teg.......VTEC BROSEF!!!!!

If you get a new car get a 240 and we can talk to the guys i know in bg who build these for fun and get a rb swap if that's the route.

Even a built KA would be bomb. They put more torque then the SR or so i am told. And when built can easily give a SR a run for their money.

Just wait to get out of highschool. Then when you get into tech school we can talk about this alot more. You will have more resources and maybe brandon could let you drive the Cobalt. biglaugh.gif

whats wrong with an integra?
i bought a 93 gsr for 300 bucks, easy to fix/work on and felt like a toy to drive. and i've been to quite a few strips where theres tegs running anywhere from 8-11 seconds.

Nothing wrong with them i was giving him a hard time.

He is my brother, i like them and we have a guy with one in our class. I think the GSR stock can put an impresive 150WHP with no mods. Which is cool.

Once a teg fan always a teg fan I guess.. my brother loves the hell out of them, but I don't know why.. Then again, I've never owned one.. so I can't talk **** about it. I do know that CFT down here does amazing things with Integra's.. so I am starting to respect them more and more.

As for engine swaps. I swapped a camry v6 into my Scion tC.. and it was/is a pain in the ass. All resale value is lost.. and you will loose hair over it. Not to mention that it's expensive as hell.. However, I'd do it again if I had the chance. Nothing quite like the feeling of accomplishment when you let off the clutch the first time.

Just saw this... LMK what platform you decide on... Had a 96 GSR 352hp on a single dyno run...

Teg = Good platform and endless options, will always be a fun car...

SC2 = I dunno exact dimensions under hood but you could measure it out and do a 1j swap ;) heh
