I have a car with a lot of chrome under the hood. What is available to accent the engine bay while at car shows, etc. ? For when it's dark out.

I'm leaning towards some sort of leds that can be placed in the hood just peaking out around the insulation and shining down on the engine bay. But open to suggestions. Remote would be nice.

Thoughts?

the 1 watt floodlight led's can be used as can the led bars can be mounted across the front of the hood shining down ...
You can also mount them across the firewall shining forward or on the radiator panel shining rearward ...

Looking for something that is hidden. Not noticeable until it's turned on.

most can be hidden by strategic placement ... most hoods have a part that hangs down enough to hide most tubes ... the one watters arehideable under insulation ...
then front and rear can be hidden by placement near around articles mounted there

I'd be cautious with those as they are not truly waterproof , underhood that is a big concern with water spray ect ... You can possibly mount them in the ribs of the hood to help protect them you'd have to run the wires /resistors down the ribs ...

The remote switch can be used to power on/off any lighting or other accessory

Not working on the stang. The user name was created when I was working on my daughters Mustang.

I am working on my 2005 GTO. Chrome Supercharger, chrome valve covers, chrome water pump. Accented with red billet pieces: dip stick handle, and all the fluid caps and strut covers. The car is also red.

Just wanting to show the chrome, some of the car cruise ins have poor lighting in the parking lots. Not sure what the difference is between Warm white and white. And how many is needed to light it up.

warm white is light that you mostly see on cars, in the dome light and most headlights, house lighting is usually warm white.

white, is uhh... white it might seem like a light blue since you might be more used to warm white.

white looks better then warm white on cars, but thats my opinion.

Warm white is like a light bulb in your house. It has a soft yellowish glow.
White in LED terms is a Cool white. Pure white with maybe even a hint of blue. Like HID bulbs.

I would base what colors to use with what color the car is. I agree with badvenge with white/red lookoing sick with chrome. I personally am a huge fan of the LED chrome modules, they put out a great amount of light and look good when not in use as well. If you go with white, I agree with the guys above that white or cool white is what you want. stay away from warm white in a car application.

Here is my car. I want to add some lighting to the the engine bay for better viewing of the chrome items, espcially at some of the darker p[arking lots used for local cruise ins.

Personally I'd mount two along the top of the hood , two down low by the strut bar possibly one behind the S/c and two on either side if the radiator

Keeping your lights hidden while maintaining the highlight effect is going to be difficult
from one angle it could be hidden but another visible
so that may be a challenge.

Thanks for the compliments. I have a chrome electric water pump and water neck housing that I'm going to install the same time I change out the cam. Currently having a replacement custom cam ground. The current cam is one I had ground for the previous motor and small s/c that I was running.

Back on track.... should I buy about ten of these? http://www.oznium.com/prewired-leds Mix some reds and white? Is there a way to control them by remote?

Thanks again, Tom

the floods will give you A LOT more light... probably what yoru wanting... the little LEDs just give a small amount of light...

Look at this way... the flood gives a five gallon bucket effect where the 5mm leds give a bottle cap effect... understand?
