2 weeks ago, i was just minding my own business when all of a sudden, MASSIVE PAIN in my side... i went to the hospital, after a few tests and hours in the ER, turns out my appendix decided to rebel against me and try and explode. it failed at it's explosion but they went and took it anyways. they say once it goes bad it will never come back. so they took it, and put it where ever they store the parts of a human no one needs..

so now i am recovering and slowly getting off the perkecets. so i thought i would share my story. and if it doesn't make sense, i blame the meds.

yea i know.. it scared the crap out of me really.. the surgeon said that it should have ruptured, but it didnt, thank god..

funny thing is, they told me that since i was in pain it was a good thing, because once the pain stops, thats when it has ruptured and i would have been in the hospital for weeks instead of days..

Lucky you got it before it burst.

Mine ruptured last year. Had surgery. A week later had to open me up again. My intestine twisted when it ruptured which wasn't spotted so everything was blocked. It was pretty gross when everything came back up. After second surgery got hit with the friggin' Mersa crap. Spent like 3 weeks in the hospital and then a couple more at home while the incision healed because they couldn't restitch it after reopening it from the infection.

Oh and the iodine mix I had to drink so they could trace the dye in MRI to find the block was simply delicious!!!!!

that sucks man.. yea they did a cat scan.. needed to drink 2 big things of barium, and then they did the iodine injection...

i think i would have gone nuts with 3 weeks in the hospital.

Couldn't use barium drink because of the rupture. If it got into the body it doesn't get absorbed. The iodine mix would if it got through.

The barium is supposed to be be better tasting from what I heard compared to the iodine lemonade stuff. I was gagging trying to drink it. Disgusting crap!

The hospital stay really sucked at the end because once the Mersa hit I couldn't even walk the hall way. I was "quarantined" to the room. At least before that they let me at least wander the halls to get up and around.

So did you just get the laser removal or full cut? They had to cut me since it ruptured.

full cut. bout 3in long...

and the barium tastes like chalk.

well now it's a "berry" flavor... but it still tastes like chalk, it's think and heavy and... yea.. gagtastic... needless to say i dont think either drink would be better or worse then the other.

i really didnt think much of what was going on at the time. i was trying to stay somewhat happy. joking with everyone, keeping to my upbeat self... but now that i've had time to think, it is a little crazy that it could have been a lot worse. i know sometimes people say they think differently after something like this happens. but to me, it just something else i had to go through. it could have been worse but hey, im living, and what dosnt kill ya makes you stronger....

until you try and stretch out one morning and realize your in extreme pain from even trying -_-

Dont post here too often, but this just happened to me at the beginning of this summer. I've had 2 appendectomies. Yes 2. I'm documented case 36. It was a weird thing where they didn't remove all of it the first time so a year later I had the same problems as before and they figured out that a "stump" was left from the first time. Good stuff. Appendix's are worthless anyway. I didn't like mine that much.

I had something similar about 7 years ago. Pain in the side, try to "man it out" for a few hours, then finally had my wife drive my to the ER. They wanted to do all sorts of tests, but the surgeon stopped by, touched my abdomen, and when I winced in pain, he said "It's your appendix, do you want surgery?".... I also came close to rupturing, but got lucky and they took it out before that happened.
