you can get an amp to do 1500 watts and that would be 750 to each subs and it would kick like no other. You can do 1000 watts but it can bang more. Try to get a monoblock if you can

the MRP series is just as good. Its Alpine so you know your getting true power unlike some other amps *cough**sony**cough*

dont get 1500 watt amp for two alpine type R's. first they are only rated for 500RMS each so 1000 watt RMS amp will be fine. and another thing is if you have a stock battery and alternator then the higher in watts you go the more it will kill your battery and alternator unless you have aftermarket ones.

That Alpine makes those Type R's worth buying. It's well worth the money.

Just curious, why don't u just get 1 type X or JL Audio 12w3v3 and get something like the PDX 1.600? Or do u really want 2 subs?

FYI cougarman, rms is always half the peak, whether or not the company has their rms listed as half, it is. This is rule of thumb, some comapnies under or overrate their products. Alpine is underating them or are suggesting 500 watts rms as a reccomendation. those subs could be pushed to 3/4 of the peak and you would start seeing issues there. TypeRBass who is no longer with us, he left the forums, he had 750 to each of his 4 type r's, the older ones with 1000 watts max and was hitting 140.1 db's or so. I dont recall him trashing any of them.

it all depends on what you want. you can go with a 1000 watt amp and be perfectly good and they will kick. The sensitivity is a bit low and the lower the sensitivty is the more power you need to reach the same volume of a speaker with a higher sensitivty. IE. 87db sens needs 1000 watts to perform at the same amplitude as a speaker with 90db sens needs only 750watts. These numbers arent right, im just showing you the idea.

cougar is right on the battery and alternator, it always best to get an optima yellowtop if you can and upgrade your ground wires that link the chassis together and to the battery.

red tops are great batteries if you arent a real heavy audio person Say you just replaced your speakers and headunit and hooked the speakers up to an external and not the HU and the amp is rated at like 200-300 watts. Chances are you would be just fine with a redtop for your everyday activities. Now if you added subs in with 500 watts +, its probably a good idea to go deep cycle with the yellowtop.

Red top is a non-deep cycle battery where as the yellow top is which means you can drain and recharger the battery a thousand plus times and not ruin in. The redtop is similar to your normal battery but dry cell and has better perfromance because of this. It is just a better quality battery over all when compared to die hard and so on. If you need to change your battery you cant go wrong with a red top

a yellowtop would probably do you good then. I never used to use my subs everytime, i always had it on a seperate switch from the radio so i could turn it on and off at will and i did that to keep the battery alive and give it chances to recharge. Also, i dont necessarily wanna boom at 7:30 on my way to school.

Are you gonna get a dual 1 or dual 2 18" Q?

It depends on what type of amp you get then... if you get the dual 2 wire the coils parallel and get an amp that does 1000wrms @ 1ohm (make sure it's 1 ohm stable), or if you get the dual 1 wire them in series and get an amp that does 1000wrms @ 2 ohms... it'll be more expensive but you'll be friendlier on your electrical system and on the map running it at 2 ohms.

just btw.
