Enjoy!

I put my knee through the rusty fender of my Tempo, got a shot, and was sick as a dog for days! Come to find out (10 days after), I had a significant chunk of metal left in my knee... no wonder I was sick.

I work in a hospital, could have picked it up anywhere....thought it was a small infection/bug bite/spider bit etc.....went from the size of a penny to encasing my back and park of my **** in less than 2 days. Cut open with a scalpal, draining cloth left inside open wound about 4" into my body, next day was worse and was referred to a surgeon to possibly open the wound. Decided to use antibiotics instead, wrong ones were used and it continued to spread. Finally last night they got the right ones and it started killing it off. Now i have to keep the wound open myself after spending 3 nights and 4 days in the hospital by inserting a Q tip roughly 2" into the wound (no im not exhagerating) every hour to make sure it drains whats left of the infection out. Have to go see the Infectious Disease doc on Wed for a follow up to make sure it is still healing.

Might have got it from a patient etc...which would be my guess.

Most people carry Staph in their nose and on their hands....its VERY contagious as well. I have to shower with special soap for the next 2 months and wash all clothing, blankets, pillows etc with a bleach concentrate. As does my girlfriend. icon_sad.gif

My face swelled up in less than 10 hours from this. Then 2 years later I got a in-grown hair on my elbow, that grew into a volcano on my arm.
If you think you're getting a staph infection the best thing to use is Dial soap.

We put half a tube of neosporin into my arm, it was disgusting. Once it is in your system it will never leave again. I wash my hands and face all the time to prevent this **** from happenening again.

Pretty much what I will be doing from now on...I wash my hands quite a bit just because I work at a hospital for preventative things...now anytime I get a cut, scrape or little open wound I will be cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide and neosporin. I never want this stuff again, its just plain HORRIBLE and disgusting.....I can relate draining the wound to squeezing a tube of toothpaste...and I mean the whole tube, its nasty stuff.

If you ever get something that looks like a bug bite/spiderbite/bee sting and it begins to REALLY hurt and tissue begins to get hard, see a DR IMMEDIATELY to get on oral antibiotics and have it drained...if not it will spread and can end up killing you....

As for an update, oral antibiotics are working great; almost all cleared up and I have stopped draining the wound as it has stopped filling up with puss etc icon_surprised.gif ....Hopefully be back to work by this Friday, I may take the weekend off though icon_smile.gif
