Hey guys. i just ordered a inferno kit for my 2002 Firebird. i was wondering if anyone knows where the best place to install the front 3 foot strip at. i don't think it would show up very well if i installed it behind the splash guard so i was wondering if anyone has experience and could help me out with this. Thanks alot!

I dont have personal experience installing on your type of vehicle, but for general installation I can give you some pointers.

the best way to mount it to is dry mount it before securing it to the vehicle. Get on your back under the car with the tube and try and fit it into places under the front carriage. Try the bumper beam, behind the fascia etc. Mock it up so that you get an idea of where it will fit and will not fit and then try and make it so you get the best light output. Keep it away from moving and hot parts and then mark out your mounting points.

Sometimes it is hard to be able to use the white clamps that come with the kit. Sometimes they are too big or no where to mount them. Heavy duty zip ties will work just as well and cam be found at your local Lowes, Homedepot or autoparts store. I found sometimes the best way to mount them was to drill 2 holes into a meteal/plastic structure (I try and stay away from plastic though) and then run a zip tie thru one hole and out the other then place the tube in the middle and zip tie it into place. This is a secure hold and with 3-4 of these per tube they wont be moving anywhere.

Make sure to use zip ties on your wires to keep them from dangling and away from moving/hot parts. I know with the stang it was a pain because the car was so low but with time and patients any install can be completed.

Good luck and let us know if you have any questions regarding what you can and cannot drill into on the vehicle. icon_cool.gif

PS, in my truck gallery you will find pictures of the side tubes on my truck and how I simply zip tied them into place.

well its never a bad idea to cover the wires to protect them, but it is not necessary

I haven't been under one with the intent of lighting so not too sure but I have a tube behind my splash guard and I am lit up just fine, granted I do sit higher. If you run into troubles hiding tube, talk to the civic guys with underglow.... those guys are pros with l-beams and such since there rides don't allow good tube hiding.

I always use electrical tape over any Connection, not just plain wires themselves, they should already be insulated icon_cool.gif

Just take a few tight wraps with some electrical tape over the connections which lead to your ground, power etc...never hurts to be extra safe icon_wink.gif

I was thinking about getting a Firehawk for the longest time....insurance said no go though
