I know there are a lot of answers to this question but I want other peoples takes on it.

I've got a lot of LEDs all around the car. 2 15" strips in the front, inferno kit underneath, dome, license plate light and tails. Whenever I'm driving and I use any accessory or have the radio up they all pulse with whatever I'm using. Obviously its because of power draw but how do I remedy this? My regular incandescent lights are dimming or pulsing. Only the LEDs. I've got an amp and sub hooked up but nothing outlandish. Just a small 250w RF amp and JL sub. But at night if I'm driving and I have the radio on and roll down the window.... you can see a draw in all my rear lights.

Any help is appreciated.

Upgrade your wiring. Apparently you have added enough to cause a significant drain on your battery.

Also check your battery, it may just be getting old.

Upgrade chassis and ground and alternator wiring. Clean the terminal posts of your battery and clean the connections as well.

Yes, the "big 3" upgrade would likely help. It certainly wouldn't hurt.

Yeah..... I'm planning on the doing the big 3 next week. Its hard to get to my starter as its under the intake mani. I'm going to pull that off to get it pc'd and I'll do the upgrade then.

As for wiring I can't really help that. Most lights are in stock locations. The only exception being the lights in the front.

Battery is ok. Its a couple of years old. I've got a yellow top half pint that I'll put in when I do the big 3 upgrade. Terminals are clean and free of corrosion.

a Cap is useless...

Just upgrade your wiring get everything as clean as can be... upgrade your ground straps for your engine.

Upgrade the battery to ground terminal.

My license plate light is the real bad one. I think there's 30 or 48 LEDs on the board and god do they flicker.

I don't have a cap run with the system yet. Didn't have space when I installed it. I'll be putting one in sometime soon, but the amp really isn't pulling much power at all.

I looked at a couple of the ground points today and wow. One is a ribbon and the other is about 8ga. Definitely handle that as soon as possible.

At 250W, a cap is completely and utterly useless. It would serve no other purpose than looks.

Thats why I wasn't stressed to get one on the line. I have 2 laying in the basement from my last system so I'll put one on. Just not in a hurry to do so.

After today it looks like I'll be going back to my old system anyway so now I REALLY need to fix this problem. Kicker L7 15 and Kicker SX1250.1 amp. We'll see what happens this week when I get the chance to upgrade the grounding in the engine bay.

I'm gonna suggest upgrading your Alternator if it's really that big of a deal to ya.... it sounds like a simple voltage drop in the system.

I haven't seen a car yet that doesn't have voltage drop when under load, my running voltage will drop slightly when I turn on my headlights, or (when I had a car with power windows) roll down a window, etc... LED's are a little more temperamental to Voltage changes, so a little can make a lot of difference..

I would upgrade Alternator or Battery.... or both

new battery. i would run a Kinetik HC1400 Power Cell and do "the big three" upgrade

http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~73496~PN~1

and on top of that get a new HC alt.

that will get rid of ANY power issues. and you might pick up some horses to

Not going to pay the money to get a big amp alt. Just not worth it IMO. Plus that'd be a PAIN to install considering where its at on my motor. I've already got the Optima so I'll use it. And I broke an axle tonight so the big three might wait a while icon_sad.gif(

Prices came down that much on high output alts? Ohio generator ones used to run $600+ back in the day....

I'd have the alternator /charging system checked FIRST ...
A bad diode in the alternator can cause flickering
Also get the battery tested as well
