he was dumb if he knew people had been screwed by the guy before and thought that he could get all that work done WELL for the initial quote of 250.

Man it's sad, tho I saw this kind of body work done on Pimp my ride. Hell I saw a post by a guy owning a 96-00 civic who'd gotten a body kit and flecked/flaked black paint, he had to drill the bondo out to getto the screw that was put in to mount his bumper by the fender so he could change out his OE headlights to aftermarket units then refill the hole and re paint the car... And he was okay with this puppy_dog_eyes.gif

It's truely tragic this stuff happens to anybody, it's kinda why I don't like shops working on my car...

Maybe you should have read it...

Quote:
I picked up a Urethane lip kit for my 350z.

Without it even being test fitted, Mike had already quoted me at $250.

That included all prep, installation, and paint.

Quote:
He then made a new invoice which was now at $730.69. A $480 price hike from the original quote.

The invoice included:

"Front lip brackets for stability.
Rear lip brackets for stability.
Sideskirts, cut, fiberglass, and re-shape - 3 hours each.
4040 epoxy will be used to stabilize the sideskirt to vehicle.
Sideskirt may be removed if needed.
Work completed will not affect the fitment of OEM sideskirt."

I agreed, trusting him with my Z, that he would do his best possible work.

i know a few people that know enough about body in my school to do it right, i could do all the prep work and installing myself from my experience at a body shop.. still haven't gotten painting down though.

dont use wood screws,
line the gaps up
if the paint runs re-paint it
get the color right
DRY FIT BEFORE INSTALLING

He got what he paid for are you serious? So when would someone PAY to have things damaged on their car?

This was neglect on the shops part. They took the door off and even dropped it...

You are the type of person with the attitude "psht whatever... it didn't happen to me."

I hope I see it happen to you and I will be that guy pointing and laughing.

I don't think he meant it as "psht whatever... it didn't happen to me". I think he meant that body work is really never that cheap, and since it was cheap - thats the kind of work he paid for. I think he meant it all to come back to "You get what you pay for".

Wow.

And dude said since he already paid, he can't sue the guy. If I ever need body work, I'll take my car to the dealer to get it done. I may pay a little more, but I won't have to worry about them using wood shims and drywall screws to make it work. I'm suprised I didn't see any drywall tape showing.

Which brings me to this... who did the work? A body shop or a residental contractor?
