My Computer sucks and for some reason it freezes when I try to update my IPOD.

Long Story short, Is there anyway to transfer songs from my IPOD to another computer? I love my playlist but after 2 months of not beeing able to update there getting old and I wanna have new stuff on there. But I have heard when you plug the ipod into another comp it will erase itself when you sync and it discovers the songs/playlist dont exist on the other comp. My GF's laptop has tons of new songs and I just downloaded Itunes...

When I plug in my Nano it shows up but when I explore the device I cant find my songs. And I have yet to run my IPOD on her comp with Itunes for fear it will be erased.

Any insite is welcome.

You can view the "hidden files" when exploring the ipod. They will all be in a wierd code, but if you add them to your itunes library, they will put the correct names and artists on. Then you can erase the ipod and update it with the new music and your old music. Thats how it worked for me anyway.

Does that work if the songs are all pirated? I did not download or buy any songs from Itunes I only use it to load songs into my Ipod.

Thx,
-K

I found on the Apple website a way to transfer the files... Im just hoping I can stop the sync from my ipod to my computer so it dont freeze, If I can do that I may be able to move them all w/o any problem...

Thanks, I managed to use my IPOD as an extra hard drive to move the music files but my computer would not allow me to consolidate the library in itunes wihout freezeing so I had to sort out the 1000+ songs back into the playlist I had made, but at least I got all my songs now.

all you had to do was use a program called Ipod player and it would extract the songs, movies, videos, etc.

I used iTunes Export for my iPhone and it worked great.

Also, did you try updating your iTunes? I heard there was a bad iPhone driver used in one of the recent iTunes versions. I'm not sure if it affected iPods or not.

plug ipod in
dont sync
show hidden folders
go to computer->ipod driver->ipod control
your music will be coded with 4 letter codes in the folders f00-f49
copy those folders to wherever you want your music to go
drag those into itunes to get the file names back.
