Anyone feel like giving a newbie a little advice? I ordered a couple of replacements for my dome lights on my 08 FJ Cruiser . I have read that they are awesome and cannot wait to install next week.
But this has started some sort of disease where after tooling around on the forum here I want to light up everything. Here is the plan .... I am going to install prewired superflux orange leds under the dash , in the cupholders and the back of the center console as well as one in the glove box. The question is can I use a toyo dimmer knob similar to the one that controls the instrument gauge to dim or brighten the leds? If so can someone point me to what I need to purchase to do that . I have searched the forum high and low and got some info regarding potentiometers but i am not too clear on what type to buy and whether that solves my problem. As I mentioned having a control similar to the stock one that controls the gauge cluster would be the key... ..... any suggestions? sorry about the long post .
Cheers,

Any potentiometer would work. Keep in mind that while pulling 80mA, 150 ohms will dissipate all 12V. But since the LEDs are only sopost to receive 2.5V, I would look at finding a 50 ohm potentiometer that you like.

any suggestions on the actual potentiometer? I looked at the radio shack website and the pots don't look like there is anything that you can actually move to control. ... Thanks. Is there anything like a dimmer where the knob actually rolls?
Thanks PwrRngr. I am new to this but getting the hang of it.

go to radio shanty and ask for something similiar to the pot that pwrrnger suggested.

They probably have something very close.
