couple questions, can this be a curbside install? because i live in an apartment or should i enlist the help of a garageable location.

Is it easy? as in can i get it done if i have no electronic knowledge besides replacing light switches around the house?

can I avoid the engine compartment firewall transfer if i steal the power from my cigarette lighter....don't smoke don't charge cell phone or use it at all ?

would it be less of a hassle to buy it and take it to a local garage and just pay them?

thanks for answering i haven't purchased yet and am really leaning towards doing it myself because i'm not a *****(haha) and i really want to get into my scion after the warranty expires to get alot more power into it.

yes this can be a curbside job but you will still need a jack and jack stands.

Depending on when your installing its fairly simple, you can always steel from the fuse box to avoid the firewall.

Dont pay someone to do it for ya ask us if you have anymore ?'s

you can make up for the lack of a jack and stands by finding a parking lot that has a higher curb with handicap ramp. Drive the wheels right up on the curb (via the handicap ramp) and you should have enough room. Yes you will have to put the tires pretty close to the edge but it will work in a pinch.

you can do that if you like alot of soldering, you can pick up a "add-a-circuit"/"add-a-line" which just plugs into the fuse and then from there it goes to the constant power to the switch and then from the switch to the led's then just ground your led's to the chassis.

i probably wouldn't mess with the cig lighter.

To answer your questions:
1) Yes you can do a curbside install, however you will need to use jacks to lift your vehicle in order to give you access to under it. Make sure you support the vehicle properly consulting your manual for jack stand placement as to not damage vehicle or suspension and for safety reasons.
2) You can use any 12V source for power. This means battery, cig lighter, stock wiring for stereo etc. You can also STILL use your cig lighter if you choose to tap into it for power. Simply pick up a "T" tap to splice power off the wire thus not making you cut the wires off the back of the cig adapter. This will also provide a stock fuse as the wire is fused to the stock wiring. Another thing you can do if you dont wish to run wire thru the firewall or T tap into any wires would be an Add A Circuit. This replaces one of your stock fuses in the cabin fuse box (usually under your driver side dash or passenger dash, little black box) with a fuse that has a power wire coming out of it. Simply use a crimp connector to join this wire with the Inferno power wire to draw power, then ground the unit to any nearby screw that has a metal to metal contact.
3) The wiring is pretty straight forward. You will need butt/crimp connectors (check the AWG of the wire) I believe its 16 AWG so the RED butt connectors should work fine, if not the blue will work. Buy a butt/crimping tool (roughly $14 at Schucks, Home Depot, etc) and electrical tape. You will also need a ring terminal, blue or red again (goes by size of AWG wire) to crimp on to attach to a screw for the ground. The kit comes with a switch to turn it on and off so you will need a drill in order to drill a hole in your interior to mount the switch. The tubes need to be zip tied/drilled mounting brackets to mount to the undercarriage of the vehicle. You will also need lots of zip ties and it is helpful to have a friend who can help you. Expect to spend about 1-4 hours depending on how easy/hard it is to get mounted to the vehicle.
4) Keep in mind that EACH tube has its own wire that "plugs" into the brain on the Inferno so you will need to find a way to run each tube wire under the vehicle (use zip ties to keep away from exhaust and moving parts such as drivetrain) and then into the cab of the vehicle where the brain should be located. If you look at your firewall you will see a Rubber Grommet that has a bunch of wire running thru it. This is the location of the stock wiring harness running into the interior of the vehicle. If you take a flathead screwdriver this grommet will pop out and allow you to run your wires thru it. It may require a little cutting to allow all the wires to fit thru and provide a proper seal against water etc getting into the cabin. This can be difficult on vehicles that dont have a lot of room between the engine and the firewall and can be difficult to get to.
5) Its really up to you if you pay to have it installed. Most shops are going to charge about 60-70/hour and about a 2-3 hour install so expect around 200-300 shop fee for install. It is more gratifying knowing you installed it yourself.

There are several people here on the forums who have installed on a TC and would be more than happy to help you. My girlfriend will be purchasing one soon and I have told her I would install one on her new car as well. It can be done, just be patient and dont be affraid to ask if you have a question. Remember we all started out in the same position you are and just decided to go for it and give it a try. Now I can pretty much do electrical with my eyes shut, I used to really hate it.

ok so the install on the TC looks like a piece of cake....now the ultimate question, i have the 2008 TC and its the Crimson Mica Mettalic color (glorified marroon with alot of pink, orange, blue, and purple flake in it.) should i go for the V2 or just stick with the inferno....this is going to be my first mod to the car. That or Phil can send me one for free and i will take it all over Michigan State University's campus and rep the oznium for him....show it off to the car club and bike club...could get some major sales (advertising masters student coming out there a little bit.) ....ok so inferno or V2...cause im gonna make an order this weekend sometime and hook them up in a buddies garage. pics will fo sho be showing up here after i get it done...maybe a couple in front of the spartan statue to rep the MSU

V2 if you got the money. It's a better kit.
I bought the v1 in 2006 and never had a problem.
Wish I could get v2 icon_sad.gif

i'm in the same situation. i ordered a V2 for my 08 tc. and it shows in Phil's link that you cut into the pastic peices but i'm not sure how becuase the v2 tube is longer than the v1s so it wont fit in that cavity

don't go all the way to the battery terminal. Just add a circuit to the fuse box or tap into another source in the cabin.
