Like i said have no clue which category this would go in, but i figured it would get some more looks if it were in here. anywhoo, now that i have my led strips workin under my dash all my lighting is being affecting by it. but when i was driving last night i noticed when i put my brakes on (leds and headlights were on too) that my headlights were dimming. also noticed whenever my turn signals were going off my led's would dim slightly between the lights going on and off. all my lights get brighter when i'm not idling, not sure if this is normal or that i should be upgrading my battery soon or something. Suggestions?

Your alternator puts out more output at higher RPMs, which is why your lights aren't as dim while you're driving. You're definitely having some sort of issue here.
The first thing I would suggest to do (and the cheapest) is to do the "big 3" upgrade. Get some 0 gauge wire and make connections from your alt output to battery + (fuse this wire), alt to ground, and battery to ground. This will greatly reduce the resistance of your overall electrical system, as well as giving you an excellent chassis to battery connection, aka ground. Leave all of the existing wiring in place as well. You can google "big 3 upgrade" to get more information on this. If that doesn't do it, the next step would be an upgraded alternator and/or battery. |

Your alternator could just be going bad. Is this in the 92 celica? Has it ever been replaced?

I don't know why everyone suggests the big three ALL the time. The stock wiring should work fine with the stock lights plus a few LEDs. The first thing I would do is take the alternator and battery to autozone and have them check if they are bad.
I would bet your alternator is going out. |

i was thinking that it could be my alternator was going bad, and yeah it's my 92 celica... my only car. i'm not sure if it's ever been replaced, i might contact the owner who had it before me, he was the only other owner and appearently lived right down the street.

I'd start with having autozone check the battery and Alternator. And if you need a new alt, check and get one that has a higher output then the one you got now, this way you wont have to worry about any problems later on with more additions like more lights, amps.subs etc... Most cars have a few diffrent outputs then can choice from.
