Then use the new Flow RGB controller and make a full kit?
The beefy is usually really bright... Last edited by thesull on Sun Oct 12, 2008 7:04 pm, edited 1 time in total |

They beeft would be cool because you could wrap your wheel well with it ;) unlike other kits...

That the thing you're talking about? Wow, is that the same ECU from the V2? |

Yeah since I was the first to think of this with the new controller I should get a discount or the "sample" model hehehe
I think it would be an affordable kit actually... |

normal beefy strips are probably the brightest cheapest thing you can get. being able to have a million colors in them.

It would be at least $280 or so.
The controller, two 6 foot strips and two 38" strips. Although it would be cool to bend the strips up into the wheel wells like mentioned above. |

I like the idea of continuous no GAP GLOW..
Being able to flex the strips over the wheel area would be schweet... Oh course being a package deal the price could come down some... Yeah, cyber's is what gave me this idea but using the 38"s as for a "wheel well" kit.. heh Since there are so many connections on the RGB set one BLOCK for wheels.. and have all four wires go there... then have the others for the sides and front/rear... |

The problem with this is that the 4-Channel RGB Controller isn't designed to do multiple pixels per tube. So while there are some patterns that would make it look kinda cool, each side would be limited to one color at a time.
And I haven't really played with the patterns yet, so I don't know how they'd work. But something tells me they go in a circle, instead of start in the front, go down the sides, end in the back. |

Unless you designed new strips themselves, you wouldn't be able to do this.
The 6-foot Beefy strip pulls .7A of current. (single Color) The max output on each channel of the controller is 1A so if you went with 4 6' strips on the 4 sides (typical single color setup) you would stay under the 1A per channel restriction. BUT, to do million color without redesigning the strips, you'd need 3 sets of strips, one Red, one Green, and one Blue. This would take your current draw per channel to 2.1A, which is more than double the rated capacity. This combined with not being able to do multiple pixels per tube, makes this a really expensive ($699.87) kit that doesn't have near the functionality of either inferno kit. |

You have one of these controllers Eric?
I'd love a writeup or a review or something on the thing. What exactly it can do and what it can't. What exactly are the patterns? Is a 4 foot section of million color strips going to look the same as a four foot V2 tube, excluding the brightness? Send that thing this way if you don't feel like doing a write up and I would love to. |

Yeah I have one. It has the same functions and patterns as the V2 Wheel Well Kit.
Each channel is only one pixel, so it won't function exactly like a V2 tube. I don't have enough cool RGB things to plug into it and investigate all the patterns. Someday I'll get more in-depth with it. |

I don't think you would run the three colors homie... the draw wouldn't be that bad if the LEDs were million color...
I think your thinking to far in depth... But even tho the patterns would be limited.. it would be an option... A million color beefy would be schwet and bright. |

I promise, that if the million color Beefy strip has the same number of RGB led's as the single color strips do, then the current will triple.
Look at the Thin LED strips if you don't believe me. They are sold in solid colors as well as million color. While they both have the same current per foot, the Million color strip has 12 LED's vs the 36 LEDs in the single color strips. An RGB led requires triple the current of a single color LED, due to having 3 chips inside one casing. |
