ok UPS just dropped off underbodies about ten minutes ago. got everything out of the box and layed out across the floor. i want to check the tubes first to make sure they all work, check to see that all the R G B 's light up all the way across, etc. but i have to power it. now i cant drag my car into my bedroom to hook it up to test it. whats the easiest way i can power these tubes 12V to check them while their on my floor?

http://www.oznium.com/ac-adapter

or

http://www.oznium.com/power-supply

or pull 12 volts off of a spare PC power supply.

or if you can't wait for shipping time, then radio shack has AC Adapters also.

ok so here's the deal. i've tried just about everything, pushed every damn button on the remote, and nothing happens. the stupid ac adapter i just picked up doesn't even power the thing, so i went and wired it to my little blue car. plugged in all the tubes the IR sensor, everything that came in the box. nothing happens. i give it power it flashes U for a second then 5 for a second then just goes straight to a little dot and won't do anything from then on. the kit doesn't come with a user manual or installation guide, which most common sensed people wouldn't need anyway, but obviously im dumber than a bus full of paris hiltons right now and could have really used one. finally got my underbodies, and i don;t even know how to turn them on, awesome. they'll make wonderful table legs. lol. anybody know wtf is goin on or what im doing wrong here?

the remote that came with it has buttons for like sat tv aux vcr, its a universal remote apparently, how in the heck will it control a set of underbodies?? im so lost.

(p.s. - what's with the picture?? lol that just confuses me so much more!!!)

Yes, I ordered the UFO kit from Oznium. Had it shipped via dolphins apparently, lol.

The remote described and pictured on the website here looks like this:

And the remote I got with my kit from Oznium today looks like this:

It's apparently not programmed to the UFO ECU and - retard me - I don't know how to program a remote to an ECU...

Oh wow, didn't realize it was a totally new remote style.

I just emailed Adrian (tech guy at Iceled) and asked if he'd chime in on this topic.

Hi, The kit should have come with a printed manual. Here's a screen-shot from the page describing the remote...

iceled.co.uk/manuals/rempage.GIF" border="0" alt="User posted image" onload="checkImageResize(this);"/>

A .pdf of the full manual is available here.

Apart from the on/off button, to begin with, just look at the button functions for Pattern Display mode (shown in blue). These are your basic operations for changing the patterns and selecting colours. The other functions are for when you're editing the patterns - I suggest you ignore these while you're getting used to the kit. icon_biggrin.gif

What makes it so bad guys?

If anything, I think it is an improvement over the already good Iceled Remote. Patterns and controls are now easier to access. This remote probably costs Iceled $10 to $15 whereas the FlowLighting remotes costs around $1 in China. This Iceled remote seems a lot more durable.

From Adrian/Iceled:
Quote:
I recently overhauled the entire firmware to make use of a 31 button remote. You can now go straight to the pattern you want using the number buttons. I also added a new pattern feature which is an "accent" colour - e.g. the colour of the scanning dot in pattern 3 - but it does cool stuff in all the other patterns too.

Now UFO and ZEN can be operated independently using two out of the four device buttons on this multi-device universal remote, and there's no more fiddly MAGIC button - the RGB/HSV levels can now be raised and lowered with dedicated buttons.

Will this remote work with all UFO kits? I am interested in it. Looks like it will take alot more getting used to(labeling would be nice) but once you get the hang of it should make playing with the kit alot easier.

When I spoke to Paul from ICELED he mentioned that these were not interchangable, unfortunately that wasnt necessarily what I needed to find out so I did not ask if they could be used with past UFO kits

Good news fellas! I got light! And beautiful light, too!

Now all I need is to get it put on the car! I decided I'm not going to do it myself. Wouldn't want to risk anything coming lose and/or falling off while I'm driving down the road. So I'm going to take the car to an auto shop to do it for me. So I can blame them for anything that goes wrong, lol.

Make sure the shop knows what they are doing. I hear so many horror stories of bad installations from shops. They'll put the ECU in the engine bay, and it gets wet or something.

Congrats on your new Iceled UFO Underbody Kit icon_twisted.gif

Looks good mang. I am pretty jealous of your remote. I am talking to Adrian about what that remote is all compatible with. Looks good.

Edit: I have been informed it will only work with the current ecu and the current display. I have a blue display. I refuse to give that up lol.

Yehh I was pretty bummed when I first saw the remote I got was different than that pictured on the website. But now that I've played with it a little bit it seems like this remote would be easier to use than the former. I am content with this one. I wish I had a blue display though, damn you. Red is so unoriginal, everywhere I look I see some sort of red display. Alarm clock, microwave, DVD player, dog collar, etc. I want blue, now I'm jealous.

Good luck finding one. I don't know for sure but I am guessing they don't even make the new displays in blue. As he said you have a new display as well. And they made a very limited supply of the original display in blue.

It's not a major concern for me really, lol. If it's red it's red if it's blue it's blue. Hopefully if I'm sitting somewhere with my UFO's on people won't be coming up to check what colour my little display is. There are other important things to be looking at, like the kit!
