I designed my own programmable tacho/shift light using the pre-wired superflux modules for my Ducati Monster. I designed the control module and the software on my own so that I could turn each LED's on at a given RPM level point and to flash above another level...this way I can have any pattern I want (sequential, converge to the center, all flash above a certain point, etc).

I thought i'd share this application with oznium, the superflux were perfect since they are still very bright in direct sunlight and also waterproof!

I've got to know how you programmed that . Did you swap the superfluxes out with original LEDs on an aftermarket programmable tach or did you build from scratch ?

Yes I built it from "scratch" i designed and built the PC boards, wrote the software etc. (I used to be an electrical & software engineer by profession). I'm happy to help anyone who is interested, and I actually do have a handful of PC boards, cables etc left that someone could build up as a "kit"...adding their own LEDs, enclosure etc. Send me a PM if you are interested...

I'll post more pics if the moderator will create a "Ducati" or motorcycle category in the gallery.

This isn't something im looking to profit from, perhaps if I get enough requests and dependent upon your feedback I may design a commercial product.

I agree that it could be annoying on a car or something (If it gets annoying, you turn it off), on a motorcycle the dash isn't typically in your line of sight...which is why i needed something bright you could see in direct sunlight using your peripheral vision (so I know when to shift). It's based on what you see in professional motorsport:motorcycles, F1, indycars etc...When you need to get your shift points correct etc. My conventional motorcycle tacho was broken.

not like i'm judging you but shouldn't you shift on the way the bike feels and sounds? once you have the feel down then tach's aren't really even necessary. i mean unless you are actually racing the motorcycle on tracks and such where a shift is difference between 1st and 2nd then i could see the full use of this but day to day i don't think its really that needed.

but from electrical perspective you did a great job icon_biggrin.gif

Well, I added "Ducati" to the list, but it doesn't show up until you go and try to add a car in the drop down list. Only thing is the model doesn't show up, I guess Phil has to do that.

EDIT

Got it. What model is the motorcycle?
