If you aren't already a member, join the NRA as soon as possible.

If you ARE already a member, first make sure that your own membership hasn't expired, and then get others signed up.

Buy gift memberships for friends and family. I just bought 4 of them today.

We're about to face a larger and more determined gaggle of gun banners than we did back in the early 90's. For those who don't know, Vice President-Elect Joe Biden was the senator who WROTE most of the 94 Assault Weapons Ban.

When an NRA lobbyist walks into a congresscritter's office, he introduces himself by name and then says, "I'm with the NRA, and we represent (number) American gun owners."

The last time I checked, that number was 3.5 million. Let's make it 10 million. Let's make it 20 million.

Hell, let's make it EIGHTY MILLION - because that's approximately how many gun owners there are in the United States.

.....and because if we DON'T, that number might be ZERO.

Lol.

ya I don't see the point of owning a gun. For hunting and that kinda stuff that is cool. But handguns and **** aren't necessary. If you live in a terrible neighborhood and really are afraid of your life then move. I have never owned a gun in my life. I am fine.

I dunno. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I just don't see the point.

Big surprise, the guy that thinks everyone involved in politics are scam artists also thinks people don't need guns.

If someone breaks into your house armed, you will be singing a different tune.

Lol. Or I will just run and call the police. Seems like a legit plan to me. They are armed as well.

I don't believe that our president/vice president elects will touch gun rights, however in the case that they try I will do my part.

I guess it depends on the house hold. If it is a house of just adults. I guess. But imo if you have any children at all in the house all guns should be out. (Unless you have like hunting gear or what ever then in one of those huge safes that no kid could come close to getting into). There are way to many cases of kids killing other kids or themselves when they find their parents guns and play with it.

Hunting gear is completely different than just having a hand gun chilling in your house. But it should be properly locked up in safes at all times.

Thats why parents need to be active in teaching their children proper gun control. Take a 6 y/o who has a father that hunts and he goes with him. Now take an 8 y/o who has a father who's doped up all the time. Which one would you trust w/ a firearm?

And I completely agree with you. But sadly the fact of the matter is, while you, pork and the others are probably very safe with your guns. There are just as many out there that aren't. And while yes it sucks that it is a hobby of you guys. And I respect that you enjoy it safely. There are people dying because others aren't safe. And there is no way to let you guys enjoy it and the retards not. You have to just take it all out.

This is all my opinion btw. Don't get all up in arms lol

Glad somebody caught that one lol.

Ya I know. And you SHOULD have the right to bear arms. You really should. But sadly it is bad apples that ruin the fun for all the good people that are safe about it. And with something as serious as having lives at stake and people dying every day...you sometimes have to take a serious step to try and prevent it.

Good argument. A little different than gun control. But solid argument.

And 02stang has a point too. Police should not be outgunned. Hunting rifles are fine. If need be pistols are fine. But there is absolutely no reason to have an assault rifle.

Trying to impose more restrictions on guns will only take guns out of the hands of responsible people. Most guns used to cause harm are not registered, and not legally owned. Making guns harder or impossible for responsible people looking for self protection will allow only for more crime. Criminals won't be as fearful when they know they are the only ones with guns.

Then get them out of the hand of CRIMINALS. I have an AK47, and I love to shoot it. Would I ever shoot at people are at cops? Never. It's a recreational gun, just like every other gun I own.

Take them away from criminals.
Not law abiding citizens.

Also, my dad owns a shop and he aligns the township police cars. Every car has an AR-15 and shotgun in it. So no Shaler cop would be outgunned...

Are hunting rifles less effective at killing people? Hell no. In fact, I could kill someone with a scoped .308 Remington much easier than an AR-15 with iron sights. A gun, is a gun, is a gun. It's as simple as that. Singling out assault rifles is like blaming SUVs for car accidents. It doesn't add up.

And Dan, you're exactly right. It is the bad apples that ruin it for the law abiding citizens. That's why I like having guns... to the shoot the bad apples with. icon_wink.gif

i have owned guns since i was 11 years old, always been taught the best saftey out there. Now when i go shoot with friends now that I'm older. I bite my tounge at some of the ways they handle them. Its all about how you were taught safety if any at all. Guns FTW!

Now you've gone and done it.....made me rummage through my old MySpace blog archives, and dig out the Gun Control Cluebat O' Doom.....

Quote:
Gun Control and Statistics

You can debate statistics all you want. Cherry-pick them to your heart's content, selecting only those which buttress your side of the argument.

They are irrelevant.

It's a MORAL issue, and here is my position on the matter:

1. I own my own life, as everyone else does theirs. I have the right to defend my life, my health and my justly acquired property from aggression initiated by others against them.

2. Firearms are simply tools with the specific function of launching projectiles, just as wrenches are tools for turning nuts, bolts or other connectors.

3. Revolvers, pistols, rifles, shotguns, and carbines are simply specialized types of firearms, best suited for specific purposes, just as box wrenches, crescent wrenches, pipe wrenches, sockets and oil filter wrenches are.

4. Inanimate objects have no moral character. They can be neither good nor evil. They must "borrow" their character from the HUMAN BEING who uses them, and that person's ACTS may ultimately be good or evil.

5. No one, either individually or collectively, has any moral right to dictate which tools another may use to perform a task, except as a matter of voluntary contract, i.e. employment.

6. Peaceful people, by definition, do not initiate acts of aggression against others. Therefore, no regulation of their use of firearms is necessary.

7. Criminals, by definition, are those who disobey laws and regulations. Therefore, no regulation of their use of firearms is possible.

8. A human being is capable of killing a human being without a firearm.

9. A firearm is NOT capable of killing a human being without human intervention.

10. I have carried firearms in public, openly and concealed, on a daily basis (with rare exceptions), for over 18 years. No noncombatant/innocent humans have been harmed as a result.

Trying to control the TOOL rather than the ACT is a hardware solution to a software problem, and will, predictably, fail miserably, serving only to violate the rights of peaceful people.

What a great response! So much thought was put into it, we should just ban all guns altogether because why do we need them? Lets all listen to SickWitIt, the biggest scammer on Oznium, because he knows all!

Why ban assault rifles? It only takes one bullet from a pistol to end a life.

Ya there's really no point in banning one type of gun. They all do the same thing in the end.
