So I was just handed down a 1996 4runner and I'm trying to spruce it up. I'm a girl and going for more of a luxury feel rather than a sporty feel. I've ordered a wood grain dash kit...changing all of the gauges/hvac controls to LED white lights...I also plan on changing the dome and map lights to a bright white. I plan on putting blue leds on the floor under the dash also...just to give it a little color.

Now I'm trying to figure out the stereo interface. It still has the stock stereo, with an ancient tape player...So I'm wondering what sort of stereo deck I should have....I feel like most of the decks out there give the car such a sporty feel, which isn't bad...just not the look I'm going for. I know the dvd/stereo combos look a little more luxurious...but those are a little out of my budget right now....and it would hardly be used.

Any ideas???

I have one of these in my 2005 Mustang GT and it looks very nice, not sporty but not blah.

JVC's KD-AR5000 LCD screen doubles as a touch-panel with voice support for intuitive "touch and listen" operation. You can also personalize the graphic screen with JVC's innovative PICT feature. And enjoy a new level of radio reception reliability with the new DiAS Tuner. So fun, functional, and safety conscious. With the KD-LHX500, you can get creative with the touch of your finger.

* Power Output: 200W Max. (50W x 4)
* Variable Color 3D Graphics Touch Panel Display with Contrast Control
* Touch Panel with Voice or Beep Tone Support
* PiCT Downloads: Click here to experience the power of PiCT

You can find them for like, $100 bucks now. and I absolutely LOVE it

i'm more of a pioneer fan myself wen it comes to car stereos, kenwood is also a good choice but i think a pioneer would go better with ur lighting cuz most pioneer stereos are lighted blue and green, i have one and blue/green lighting in my footwells and dash and it the colors match great

You can nab up a Jenson Tv for pretty cheap these days. And people can say all they want that you should always buy name brands. Meh. I have had my jenson for over 2 years now. Shoot 2.5. I beat the **** outta the thing. Still workin like a champ.

Just throwin that out there.
