PayPal is bad for business. It's fine for personal use.

PayPal takes money directly out of my checking account...I would hardly qualify that as a credit card, or fake money.

No it is not good for personal use either.
What if you are selling an electronic item such as a cell phone on eBay. You sell it for $250 and ship it to a someone in the Bronx who just paid with paypal. You go to the post office the next morning and mail it to him. A day later, you get an email from paypal that starts out like this:
You try to contact the person and they say they don't know what is going on. You don't have a phone number or anything... You are out $250 The problem with Paypal is that they keep too much of the buyers information hidden. They say either unverified address or verified, but they will not give any more information that that. They don't give the buyer's phone number or anything. With paypal, I was victim to quite a few chargebacks when selling things. Now on Oznium, accepting credit cards directly, I still have a fair amount of stolen credit card people trying to buy stuff, but I am able to use quite a few methods to catch them and never send the products. In the past year, there was only one "close call" with a stolen credit card on Oznium. An LED underbody kit was sent out, a few days later I recieved a call from a lady who said she never heard of Oznium and never placed and order. She was in a different state than the address I shipped to. I immediately called the local police in the town I shipped to and alerted them that a package would be delivered on a certain date to a certain address. Since fedex was unable to return the package for some reason, a police officer went to the house, retrieved the package and mailed it back to me with a prepaid label I gave them. I was out maybe $30 in shipping, which was not much compared to the price of the underbody kit. The lady's credit card was also refunded the full amount. She was advised to get a new credit card number. In the past year, there have been about 15 stolen credit card order attempts, and only one has been shipped, but it was recovered. If I was using Paypal, there would be at least 15 stolen credit card orders that were shipped and not recoverable because of paypal's slow and information withholding system. I believe the main problems with paypal come down to the fact they are not a bank, they are not FDIC insured, at any time they could decided to "go out of business" and keep everyone's money. Well, in the begining when they did $10 account signup bonuses, and then moved to $5 bonuses, I made well over $300 from that |
