I was reading the posts about Red and Blue lights being illegal, I have a '72 Dune Buggy. The paint on the car is green in the front and fades to blue in the back, So I have 3 green neons in the front, and 3 blue in the back. The tubes are visible,

I've had them for about 2 months and pass 2 or 3 cops every night, haven't had any problems yet. A friend of mine said he wrote a letter to 5 0 (cops) and they said blue are LEGAL. Just my 2 cents =) If you are about 30 ft from the buggy you can clearly see the neons.

**Edit: Phil could you add Dune Buggy to the gallery page under VW icon_twisted.gif **

Hmm... well, everything I have found in the law books and state statutes mentions that blue and red auxiliary lighting is illegal. However, it is of course up to the cop whether or not he cares enough to ticket you for it. Hehe, they may just like your dune buggy so much that they don't really care about the lights icon_lol.gif .

Sadly, I have also ran into a couple of encounters in Pinellas where the officer simply does NOT actually know what the law states and only "thinks" they know what it states. Seriously tho, if you have a written statement saying that blue auxiliary lights are legal in the state of Florida I would be interested in knowing more about it!!.

Oh, just another tid-bit of legality crap in FL for ya that you may already know. There is a law that states your license plate must be illuminated with a "white light". Unfortunately, this makes the majority of neon license plate frames illegal unless they are white. I have also had an encounter with this one & a state trooper icon_sad.gif .

because it's a dune buggy, it's falls somwhere between the law as inspection is not needed... so you might get away with it.

Thanks Phil for the added gallery, pics have been uploaded.

NeonStyl -> I will try to get a copy of the letter that he sent to the police about the blue neons, if i do i will scan it and upload it for ya. Thanks.

corvettecrazy -> As far as I know it is street legal, It has headlights, tail lights, blinkers, brake lights. The only thing I know that is illegal is the straight pipes, but we put a baffle in it, which makes it street legal. Oh, also I don't have a license plate light for it. Also, it don't have a windsheild but I wear a helmet with visor so... I haven't been stopped yet.

NeonStyl...where are you located?

Theres a extreme lack of glowers in Pinellas.

I cruise the beach at night in Pinellas on the weekends and I see some cars with red and blue UB kits but no visible tubes and they dont get pulled over. But I drove with my Fusion kit on "white" and I got pulled over (not at the beach). I have a couple of friends that have gotten pulled over for "white" washer nozzles too.

Hearse, thank you very much for that scanned pic if you get a hold of it icon_biggrin.gif ! That would be much appreciated.

DragonJeep, I am in the Clearwater/St. Pete area. However, I rarely go down to Clearwater Beach any more (if that is the beach your talking about). I just find its too crowded down there, the cops almost enjoy pulling people over for any reason they can find on that beach (nothing against cops in general, just saying) and that "round-a-bout" fountain thing is just plain annoying icon_twisted.gif hehe.

But, yea... I have been pulled over for "white" washer nozzles as well. I simply removed them and installed some purple ones that only turn on and blink with the turn signals. Haven't had any further issues there.

And, I hear ya... severe lack of glowers or those that think glow is just anything more than "rice" around here icon_sad.gif . Oh well, I have just been doing my own thing for years now... hehe icon_smile.gif .

... but that's only because the ICELED team hasn't made them yet! icon_lol.gif

(That's pretty much why I don't have any yet... I'm looking into getting the 7 color ones. Not quite ICELED, but the closest thing out there right now....)

lol... well, I actually have never seen an ICELED in person before, so I would be interested in seeing that actually. However, I am usually pretty busy so I dont "hang out" much really. I cruise over to Tampa & Brandon every now & then with friends, but thats about it really. Oh, I'm 26 BTW.

One of these days, I'll have to try to meet up with ya and see some crazy ICELED action icon_lol.gif lol.

Im 26 too I hear ya. I just broke up with my G/F (my choice) so now I have more free time. I cruise to CLW beach from time to time. I hang out with a Mustang crowd. All the racing guys. Then either I go home or I go to watch them race over in Tampa.
