If I don't feel like soldering, or I'm just in a hurry, I will use the butt connects. Probably the best way to do it is using solder.

Butt connectors are perfectly reliable, and they're much easier to do when crawling around inside your car.

Exactly, with most of my connections I actually prefer to use the non insulated butt connectors, and heat shrink. All of my exterior electrical connections get done the same, but on those I'll use dual wall style heat shrink. icon_cool.gif

I much prefer the non insulated butt connectors, because you can really crimp the hell out of them and after doing so,they will not come undone. icon_smile.gif

A quality crimp can be stronger and longer lasting than a poor soldering job.

Depends what I am doing and where. (And who's car I am working on icon_lol.gif )

I solder and heatshrink. I have my J standard certification. Everything soldered in a car is EASY.

Solder and heatshrink is the only way to go. But I do use butt connectors from time to time, especially if I know I'm going to be removing something quite a bit.
