Ok, i have a sony xplod 1600 watt, that i got off Trogers a while back. It worked great for a while and then craped out , and when i plug it in it blows the fuse in the pwer wire from the battery to the amp. It only does it when the ground and the power are connected. I can take the fuses out of the amp and then plug it in but it still blows my main power line fuse. What could be causing this? icon_confused.gif

If you remove all the wires from the amp, and remove the fuses from the amp, then connect the power wire, and it immediately pops the fuse on that wire, then there is an internal short inside the amplifier itself and it would need to be repaired .

Good question dude.. uhm.. maybe call the manufacturer or phone your local Best Buy type place and see if the audio manager knows of anyone . Do they still have small time electronics repair shops anymore ? Maybe look under TV repair in the yellow pages . Amps should be pretty simple to anyone who can fix a TV .

No offense, but at this point it might be more economical just to get a new amp that is more efficient, what were you currently powering?
