So I had been having some troubles with my system as of late kicking on and off at random times, but I was too lazy and it was too cold to check it. So yesterday it warms up and I decide to go check it out. I notice my negative terminal on the left 12 is very loose, so I pull the terminal out and to my surprise, it was melted. I had to of gotten the wiring wrong on the parallel circuit or something. Check it out..

Melted.

I had smelt some burning before, but I had dismissed it as the voice coils burning up trying to keep up with the bass as I had heard that happens alot.

Needless to say I need help the with parallel circuit, as these diagrams just aren't doing the trick for me.[/b]

You might just be pushing too much for those connectors. Time to just drill 2 holes, run 2 thick bolts, and then clamp the wire to each side.

This seems kind of vague. Maybe give us some info on your setup, and how you would like it wired.

I have 2 Memphis Power Reference 12s and a Planet Audio Mono Amp, all can be seen in my oznium gallery.

Specs for the 12s:
RMS/Peak (W)- 250/450
Sensitivity (dB) - 88
Magnet Size (Oz) - 50
Mounting Depth (in) - 5.4

Specs for the amp:
Max Power (1 Ohm) 850W x 1
RMS Power (2 Ohms) 550W x 1
RMS Power (4 Ohms) 350W x 1
Signal-To-Noise Ratio 100 DB
Frequency Response 20Hz - 250Hz
Input Sensitivity 300Mv To 5.1V
Dimensions (L x H x W): 13-7/8" x 2-1/4" x 10-5/8"

Essentially I'm looking for the best wiring possible, I was told a parallel circuit was the best with that mono amp.

Are the subs SVC ? Single Voice Coil ? What is their resistance/impedance rating ? (In ohms) .

Ideally you'd want to wire it as a 2 ohm load since both subs combined can handle about 500w, and your amp puts out 550w @ 2 ohms . Since that's not an option with 2 DVC 4ohm subs, I would wire to a 1 ohm load, but now you're giving 850w to subs that can handle 500w so you'll have to exercise some discretion here and not keep all your gains maxed out since you're exceeding the limitations of your subs . Too much power is never a problem as long as you use some control, don't turn up the gain on the sub all the way, the sub output on the deck all the way, crank the volume of the music all the way up, and pound your subs to hell . icon_wink.gif

This is the wiring schematic for 1ohm . If it doesn't make sense looking at it let me know .

Also keep in mind there's every possibility you had your subs wired correctly and your terminal cup was just faulty and melted .

Yeah the more I think about it, it was probably the cup as the guy I bought the box from had gotten it from a discount outlet.
Thank you for all of your help though!

kudos to non-best buy equipment. car audio can really be fun and amazing once you get out of the big box stores.
