Puddle lighting

ok, i sold my V1 before winter cause i was gonna get the V2. ended up buying soething else, i think it was parts for the HD.

but, im wanting to do the puddle lights on the ole HHR. 5 per side.
i know the scion guys buy a kit from somewhere, but the last i checked her was out of stock on the white ones.

which LEDs can i use to get the perfect puddle effect?

some people get 4 chip leds but if the lip of your door panel is not wide enough 5mm leds will be fine and if you are worried about the tips of the led heads hitting the top of the side step then just sand them down flat

Would the OZ floods work?

Got a pic of the idea your are shooting for?

Oz spots or floods prolly... it'd be realllly bright and kickass.

I would suggest the thin led modules and stick them to the bottom of your door.

You might try some LED spots instead of the floods.

If you want I will take my floods and stick under the car with some double sided tape and wire it in so you can see what they might look like under a car

I think if the circles of light are going to touch/overlap then you're better off going with a whole bar style . I'm not feeling the way its set up in those pictures in the write-up .

ImagoXs look is too spread out.

I'd say use LED spotlights. Could get a bit expensive though.

Wouldn't be surprised if the picture above is just individual 5mm or 10mm LEDs .

Matt mentioned that the 10MM are more directional and gives the circular pattern .... and you can adjust it by setting them back further in the mounting tubes he used , the other thing is the distance to the ground from the bottom of the door ... My Avenger are circular patterns with 5mm but my doors are really close to the ground...

when you said puddle lights i pictured leds that people put on the bottom of there door panel that turn on with the dome light... my bad

thats exactly what i'll be doing soon, whenever i open my door i want it to turn on

and i'll be using waterproof Ribbon
soon enough

I'd expect waterproof ribbon to just give you a bar of light unless its really close to the ground, no ?

i was thinking the same thing, the modules should put off plenty of light.

i did some more searching and someone used 10mm LED bolt lights for it. i priced them at $35 for 10 of them. might get them soon.

damn, those are the same ones that are on the srt-8.

Yeah,as soon as you posted that picture,I remembered seeing it on their site.

heh I'd held off on mentioning it since I didn't know if it was actual product pic or autolumination used the image regardless...

Got me wanting to do this mod now.. I already wanna do a V1 on my car and ive never seen this mod before but its got me intrigued.

That's true,most of the time you don't know where they get a picture from.Hopefully it is the actual product.

once we got our taxes back it been paying off bills, new phones, trying to get sandra a better/newer car.
