actualy ive talked to alot of people that run the same amp and the secondary batery helped alot. that amp draws about 300amps at full tilt.
i talk heavily on another audio forum and some on another forum. termpro and sound illusion.
even with 0gauge power wire its got to pull alot of juice and thier suprisingly not to much problems with dimming. at least not low enough to have anything shut off.LOL this system is in my truck right now, but im gonna be either geting a 96+ surburban or tahoe/yukon, or posibly a grand prix. but im aiming towards the full size more because i can do ALOT more mods to it over the compact prix. icon_sad.gif with the full size i can add dual alts, acouple bateries, and fully bagged and shaved with all kinds of lighting icon_biggrin.gif
ill realy upgrade all my wires and go even bigger with my system. gonna get another 2500D and another H2 15.2 ill probably get 3 more yellow tops, put one under the hood and 3 in the rear with alot of 0gauge wire all over the place icon_biggrin.gif

yes i agree the batt helps but its a mask for the problem. remeber when ur car is ont he alt recharges the batt and powers everything else. well if u add another batt its supplying power necessary, but that battery isnt being recharged properly. upgrade ur batt to an optimayellowtop, i heard that works well, otherwise look into alts for what u have now they should have alt upgardes to fit stock, i too need to look intot his i nedd a 120 amp alt for my car eventually. i have 90 stock

o ya already got a yellow top optima! ;)
ive upgraded all of my old alts in my last cars but i never had a problem with my 2Kwatt amp but add that other 500watts for a total of 2500watts.LOL then ya start to get some noticable dimming that can sometimes get on your nerves.LOL mainly just scares me at times just hoping my car doesnt turn off when im stoped at a light.LOL
BUT im not keeping this truck for much longer so dont feel like puting any more money into it. i got a cheap alternator shop that can build me some beefy alts for a very nice price! and as nice i mean cheap! got my last 300amp alt for 100bucks for my last towncar. he benched it infront of me and it was testing 365amps at 14.8volts. i loved it! best part is about him he wont downgrade the size. hell i only asked for a 200amp alt and got that one so beefed up it was overkill.LOL TO BAD I KEPT IT IN THE TOWNCAR WHEN I SOLD IT icon_sad.gif i left some much crap in that towncar that i shoulda guted! my remote power window moduals like 100bucks thier, paging alarm another 150, alt 100bucks and all my custom box work in the truck area i also left in thier.

i know the extra batery doesnt solve the problem, but i dont bump full tilt all the time. also depends on what kinda music im listening to. icon_smile.gif

with my next truck ill go with purple and black lighting again. already got tons of purple neons and i dont have to worry about geting a ticket from them!!! ;)

adding a second battery and NOT upgrading the alternator will put more of a strain on your alternator and kill it quickly i believe....and will greatly reduce the life of the batteries?

you need one of those...

ever look inside the amp? see how this the wires around the power supply are? 14awg or so. you only need thick wires because of the distance from the battery to the amp. the shorter the distance, the less resistance. at 1ft length, 8awg wire is = 1/0awg @20ft in terms of resistance. so you're bringing a source of power closer. even better is a cap because it's poles like to discharge at a state of rest, meaning it'll more freely expel electrons, meaning it'll give power to your amp quicker when needed.

connections are just as important as the wire... make sure the connection to the battery is tight and a battery clamp might help.
