ok so ive been to a lot of drag races and in almost every car there, they are started with like 5 switches.

one is for the fan, another is for the fuel, another the oil, etc.
then there is one that they hold down til the car cranks over (as it is when turning the key)

anyways, i was wondering how this is done, cause i would really really want to do this to my car.

please help!

thnx =)

You can do this two ways. with or without the key.

You will only have 2 switches though. And then teh push button start.

Well you could put a whole bunch of switches and daisy chain them together. It would be pointless, and repetitive, but if that is what you were really going for...

I need to find a button worthy enough to be put on my dash for a push button start. it is a pointless mod but its still cool

You can find toggle switches that are spring loaded (momentarily on). The hardest part would be finding a good set of switches to handle the load. Also your ignition on might need lots of wires hooked to it or a relay. GM truck has about 8 wires running to the ignition switch.

ok thnx.
imma look into it some more. yea i think the spring loaded switches are the ones you can use to crank it instead of a key.

Except you only need 2 wires to actually trigger the relay to start the car. And the load through the ignition switch is no more than what you could put through any other switch.

It's fairly easy ... I suggest using at least the key still otherwise ANYONE can steal your car ...
Mine goes like this turn key to on position and press the Pushbutton to start/run, then turn off key ...

I have an ignited brand Push button start (illuminated green) new unused I paid $30 for I'd sell
(I found a red one)

Yes, you would need 2 wires to crank the car,and 2 wires to power ignition for the car to run, plus all those accessories that are powered off that key. If you use a toggle for ign., you will lose the ACC setting on the key (important if you have electric fuel pump.

The fuel pump should NOT be on when you are in ACC, so it really wouldn't matter if you lost that. He could easily add another switch for it.

Personally I would leave everything on the cylinder and then tap the "start" leads and run them to a switch also. This way the car can still be started with the key and it requires you to have the key to start the car.

Wouldn't a single pole single throw switch work....We had to use something like those except we used the double pole double throw to actually make a submarine and I put some LED's on it...everyone loved it....You just need a momentary switch for the ignition...just enough on to get the car started....

pretty much (LED kinda acts like a warning that the button is getting power), and you could use a SPST coupled with a fuse block for your pumps i'll bet

just add a rocker switch
