my dad has a ford diesel 03, and we've been attempting to locate and fix a problem with the automatic door locks
seems the door locks are getting power because pushing the lock/unlock button will slightly move the locks, but not fully enough to engage them we were thinking its a bad solenoid, just seemed that the lock isn't getting enough power to do its job, any ideas to the problem because were just thinking the tech is going out |

Go onto a Ford truck forum and ask? Most likely someone there has encountered this exact problem. Also, look through the recall list and see if anythings there.

Is the problem on just 1 lock or all of them?

its all of them, using the master switch panel on the drivers side which locks all doors, and the one of the shotgun side are both faulty (none of the doors will cooperate; must be locked/unlocked manually)
and yeh pgiordano i looked on a ford diesel forum and they said the same thing using some grease to clean er up, just havent had the chance to do it yet |

If its a problem with all the locks I would check for a bad wire/connection in the master switch panel. There may be high resistance causing the solenoids to not get enough oomph to fully actuate.
Periodic lubing with lithium grease is a good idea too. Lots of gunk gets inside the doors and jams things up. Also try opening up the main switches in the drivers door or wherever they are and disconnect the wires and spray em down good with electronics cleaner. spray it good and then work all the switches back and forth then spray it again. |
