ok. i'm looking at doing an engine swap later down the road when mine goes out, but im not sure if it will fit or if its possible and what all it entails. i was looking at a K20a Type R and found out it is only 10 cm3 bigger than my current engine ( http://www.motortrend.com/cars/1998/ford/escort...e/1815/specifications/index.html ) but i cant seem to find any info on the K20a R (engine mount locations, specs, etc). any help would be much appreciated.

Only 10cm3 bigger than your current engine? Are you talking about the displacement difference?

That's not going to matter in the swap. What's going to matter is the physical dimensions to determine if it'll fit in the engine bay.

.................... icon_sad.gif a honda motor....at least do a b18 if your going honda sheesh.

I'd look into the 3.0 contour v6....they use a MTX-75 trans, and it will be alot more fun.

A couple guys have put them in ford foci....as well as cobra v8's....and you have a biger bay then a focus. My friend has a ZX2 and it's clearly got more room. just a thought.

though with that motor you can take the rmps to 11000 haha. Damn hondas being toqueless wonders.

eh. i am going to have to vote more on for the money, get a different car. Unless you have some sentimental value or want something sleeper and unique, in the end v8 mustangs and f-bodies will still make you feel like your in high school.

if this is your daily driver i highly discourage you against any large performance modifications because it will severely decrease the reliability of this car. I say if you want to get something cheap and fun to tinker with get an older cheap platform like a first gen eclipse/talon/laser or even an 80's 300zx/rx7/supra. these are all ok things to learn on in my opinion, they all have motor swaps with extensive online information available, and if you break it you still have transportation. Also if your in high school still think about your current income and how much performance costs. Every time you see something on ebay that says "20 hp!" or whatever and is around 20 bucks, dont buy it.
