looking into investing into a motorized hu. I've been prone to finding this little number

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_070XDN8190/Dual-XDVDN8190.html?tp=5684

was wondering if anybody has experience with them, or any other motorized hu they'd like to throw into the recommendation pot.

i have a dual xdvd8183 i do believe i presonally dont like and i do, mine gets extremely hot and doesnt sync to my phone, also my screen doesnt show sometimes, that can be due to a bad connection or not enough power but at the same time the radio still works so i dont know, but it is easy to override the dvd watching ability, the touch screen is pretty good, mine doesnt have nav so cant help you there, but i never had any other pop out hu so thats the best i can give you

mkay, well when you say that it gets hot, are you saying when it is showing the screen, or just the internals of the deck overheat??

I've read some reviews on the one i specified and it also talked about people having problems with the blue tooth and iPod synchronizing.

Was it worth the money ya think??

eh i think i should have spent the extra 100 dollars to get a better one but i mean my itouch wont sync, i can still use it i just have to control it through the ipod not the screen, and the deck gets really hot

but ya id say it was worth the money i can easily hook up a gaming system to it other monitors other speakers/amps its not a bad unit i just had bad luck with mine :/

Not a fan of motorized flip up style units. icon_confused.gif How about a double din unit instead? icon_smile.gif

I was originally going to put in for a DIN touch screen hu, although recently there have been a list of thefts occurring, as they do everywhere. My mentality says to go for a stealth factor as frequently as possible.

my plan was to take the motorized (since i like the screen) because it's fairly well hidden when im not in the car to look after it

I've used Eclipse and Pioneer, love both. I like Eclipse over Pioneer however, I have noticed a larger trend of people using Pioneer compared to Eclipse for indash purposes despite the audio loss.

That too was a concern of mine, thats why I'm glad my multimedia unit has a detachable faceplate, which is usually something you don't really see in a double din unit. icon_cool.gif
Also,I'm pretty sure that when a single din motorized unit is installed in your truck,it sits really close to your column shifter and can become quite annoying. icon_confused.gif

as for the steering column prob, i've already made sure that it wouldn't become a problem. Your right though, the stereo control panel does incline towards the driver's side instead of looking out the back window.

mind posting a link to the hu you got now??
