Hey guys,
Not sure what the heck is happening here.. I ordered 3 sets of 12" cathodes within the last few months - And to my surprise came with new transformers. I'm used to the old ones, which are slightly more bulky. These recent kits I ordered, 2 sets are in my friends car, one set in mine. In mine and his car, we both have old cathodes hooked up with the old style transformer as well. Since I received these new cathodes...i've had 3 replacement transformers sent to me. They work for about 2-3 days - then die. But, the older bulky transformers...work like a charm - just as they have since I got them years ago. Emailed oznium regarding this, waiting to hear back from them - I really wish they still used the old ones since they seem to be much more reliable. I've been trying to figure out if maybe i'm doing something wrong - but there hooked up exactly like the old ones...No idea why this is happening. I'll also note, out of curiosity one of the "dead" transformers I took apart after it died to investigate. On the circuit board where the power comes in - I tested with a multimeter and power goes across the circuit board...but anything on the other side of the large block like peice (that says high voltage) - Theres no power. It seems like this thing is fried/dead/whatever. Anyone else been experiencing issues with these new style transformers? |

There have been TONS of people that experience this problem and post about it. But, if you talk to Oznium they will send you new transformers. It's so common, I would imagine they would be looking into it.

Sent you an email.
The factory switched the transformer design. Yes, it does seem there's an increase in issues with the cathode transformers (9 to 11 percent failure rate last few months). One good thing though, we significantly decreased the cathode tube breakage rate with little rubber rings in the tube, plus better packaging. |

doc, i've burn out 4 transformers (new style). when i open it up there's a burnt circuit on the board every time. it seems to happen if the trunk is open for 15+ minutes.
