Has anybody had experience in the gains from switching from the stock clutch fan to eFans. I've been researching and found that most people have seen gains as high as 25HP, 30lbs or torque, and 5% increase in gas mileage.

Can anybody back these claims up??

If you really want improvements in power, look into an electric fan. 25 HP sounds high as I this company claims about 20-27 HP on a pickup.

Sure you are going to see some gains, I would say for the price you could get an electric fan, try it out. And by that I mean find an OEM one from a junkyard. Hell I walked on a few today at a yard near me.

I sure as hell wouldn't pay 500 bucks for a "smart" electric fan like the article says.

Did you see any big enough for a suburban? You could try a couple fans from a junk yard off a K-car or something, but would they flow enough for a v8?

A few years back I had installed a Flex-a-lite Black Magic electric fan kit on my Mustang and it made quite an noticeable difference. icon_cool.gif

Here's a nice fan for your truck. icon_smile.gif

from what i know your better off getting a fan meant for a bigger truck. Something like a 3500 Dodge Ram would use, because they are better at keeping the truck cooler for longer periods of time (such as towing)

something that spins at 6000 CFM is what i've been hearing

and yeh heres a link to the 25HP dyno

^^ the guy said the first eFan he used only had a 1HP gain over the base run, then he switched to a higher class one

25 does seem a bit high, but on a big motor like that its not impossible. you should see a noticable difference in MPH though.

Keep in mind that the motor was nowhere close to stock. By designing a motor right and choking it at the intake one can make it look like an intake will give 25hp.

Also, none of those gains were anywhere in the DD range. For a racecar it might be worth it but for a normal DD car it's all but worthless.

i also live in texas where at any given point its at 80 if not higher, around 95 summer time and all the motor fan does is spin warm air

i understand the gains won't be as high but my efficiency is more of what id be looking at

anybody else care to share some input??

e-fans dont add horsepower they free up some power. 25 hp...maybe on a fixed fan.

what i can suggest is drive with ur fan off for a few days but watch the heat. see if u notice any improvement. modern fans with the vicious fan clutch dont really consume much power anyway.

if u wanna try an e-fan use one from a lincoln mark 8 or taurus with a 3.8L v6. also get a GOOD controlelr...not a cheap mcautoparts store brand. spall, dakota dgitial all make good ones but they are $$. ur also gunna need to make sure ur altenraotr can handle the start up draw and ****.
