Hey all.

I got a 91 sunbird 2.0 Auto.

I found an located the front o2 sensor, by the intake(front side of motor underneath). I can get a wrench on it but i dont have any room to move it, seems im hitting an exhaust bolt?? Any help, tips, or tricks would be apprecited.

P.s. if anyone is familar with Rear shock absorbers or cleaning the Egr valve in the 91 sunbird, please get back to me.

got a pic? you might need a special wrench to take it off as it slips over the wires and alows you to take it off that way. Get a swivel wrench that might also work. Ive never worked on anything like that at the shop so i dunno but snap a pic or something and i might be able to tell

on the o2 you will more than likely need a special socket to get it off it has a place for the wire to slide in on the side then you throw an small extension on it and it will come off. Is the sensor bad? are you able to get the wrench on at all or is it just stuck? PB blaster it could work or heat up the nut if you arent going to use it again. Dont spray pb blaster on it if you just ran the car as it could catch fire haha.

As for the EGR bolt maybe a wrench with a small piece of pipe? just to extend it to give you a little more torque on the bolt. Or a swiveling wrench might work. Just sucks when you dont have the right tools. Ask a buddy if they have one or just buy it and dont scratch it and take it back haha

hope i was some help let me know if you have any other questions

Hey thanks for the feedback man! for the o2 i have to come from underneath, i can get the wrench on it but i hit something on the bottom there. I took it to a shop, and the code came back faulty or out of range something like that. ill give er one more attempt, otherwise ill have to take it in.

Good idea on the Egr, i think i might have to take the throttle cable(thing?lol) out to get at it, im new to all this jus dont wanna get in over my head..tyvm for the advice! cheers.

if its your 1st o2 sensor then that will mess with your gas mileage and or engine performance so i suggest getting it changed soon.

Looks like a crows foot would take the O2 sensor off easily.

PB Blaster......tis a must. Then i'd just wrench it. That's what we did with my buddies car. Was kinda hard to get to but it can be done with a regular wrench.

PB blast the egr bolts too. Then throw a wrench on and us another one if you don't have some pipe like justin said.

No problem. A crows foot is very handy but not a lot of people know about them or think about them.

the "ses" will reset if the problem isn't detected after 3 drive cycles

so let me rephrase myself, has the problem been resolved?

Another question i got for yas icon_smile.gif Anybody kno how hard of a job it is to put a new manifold air tempture sensor in for a novice. Are how often you should? any signs a faulty (MAT)(IAT) might have?

a fault sensor will throw a code so don't worry about that

your may of may not have a separate IAT, as it could be integrated into your MAF so installing one is best done when you have more information of course
(idk how you'd foresee a bad one coming though)

im not so familiar with the MAT
