Hey guys. So I put a 2 strings of Oznium's triple-chip flex led's in both of my headlights. They look and work absolutely great. When I use a r/c battery to check the light function with the dimmer/strobe controller applied, the lights dim/strobe/flux as expected with no problems. However, the minute I hook the leads directly to the car battery I lose the dimmer/strobe functions, it turns on and stays on with complete disregard to the dimmer remote control function.
I called and was told to switch the output leads to no avail. Anyone have any ideas. Simply changing the source from a 9.4V lithium battery to a 12V car battery causes the dimmer/strobe controller to not function? |

^ I agree
You need to hook the ground wire from the LEDs directly to the white wire from the remote box. If this still doesn't fix the situation, could you perhaps explain the way you have everything wired? |

So, the wiring is a little tricky.. however I question the relevancy of how it's wired when simply switching from an external battery source to the vehicle battery is what produces this undesired effect.
I've wired the 2 leds strips in parallel to integrate into the current park lights of the headlights, so when the park lights are on, the led strips also go on. However, since the dimmer/strobe control unit must be turned on manually each time you wish to use the leds, rather than simply having them turn on with the power source (ie. the park lights) I had to come up with an alternative in order to use the dimmer/strobe features. Thus, I also spliced both sets of the led strips to the dimmer/strobe control module, using the appropriate ground (white) and power (yellow) to each set of led strips. For power input into the control module I've used several techniques. Connecting the red(power) wire to the battery(+) terminal, and the black(ground) to the (-) terminal. The ground, doesn't actually have to be connected to the (-) terminal for the lights will power on without the black wire connected to anything. I believe the ground output is also serving as the input ground allowing the circuit to complete, for when I connect the (-) terminal black wire there is no change. Then when I use my drill battery (12V) or my r/c car batter (9.4V) and simply connect the red and black (power and ground) wires from the dimmer controller to the appropriate leads on these batteries the lights work PERFECTLY with all functions?! So it's simply connect the power(red) and (ground) black directly to the vehicle batter which is causing them to remain ON without any control via the dimmer module? Here' s a picture of the headlight for a little empathy! Please help fellas! http://my350z.com/forum/attachments/exterior-an...63-audi-led-revised-dsc02675.jpg |

Your wiring needs to be completely RE-DONE.
You have wires crossed somewhere man if that is happening... You cannot connect the LEDS directly to the battery unless you want them to stay on CONSTANTLY... Unhook everything and start over. Do this: 1. Hook the DIMMER/STROBE up first via + / - 2. Then take your +/- from your LEDs and hook them into the other TWO wires from the DIMMER STROBE 3. PRESS A BUTTON AND TEST DO NOT CONNECT the LEDs directly to the battery this will cause them to stay on CONSTANTLY |
