I am working on my first project and i am having a minor issue.
I have installed lights into my air vents, and have all the wiring done, I am using a add-a-circuit (lol took me forever to find one cause nobody had the slightest idea what it was...) that i have plugged into the cig lighter spot, and i have the switch working. My LED's come on and the light on my switch comes on, but for some reason my cig lighter isnt being powered... any ideas? heres how my wiring looks, and like i said the lights are working... i just dont know why my lighter isnt.

Ok, on your add-a-circuit do you have 1 fuse in it or do you have two? Most of the add-a-circuits ive seen have 2 places for fuses, i was lost the first time i used one, till i looked it over real well.
^^thats how yours should look.
Without fuses in it.^^^^ Hope this helps you out! (images googled) |

i would give what blazer said a shot, theres not really a reason other than that for it to not work .. you didnt splice into anything so the wiring should be fine.

Please use crimp connections or solder instead of wire nuts. Wire nuts should NEVER be used on a vehicle.

or atleast electrical tape .. wire nuts will vibrate off over time.

@ robbie thank you
ok i will be sure to tape them down on this one. i was using this project as kind of a learning experience, but for future projects i will stay away from wire nuts. also, im using 18guage wire. the prewired lights i bought from oznium have a thinner wire coming from them (im going to guess 22?) should i have used that thinner wire instead of the 18? |
