I was looking to add some flexible LED strips in the footwells and under the seats. I figure the 4.7 inch would be enough for each spot. I made a diagram to show how I am thinking on doing the wiring but I was wondering if this is the correct safe way to do it.

The red postitive wire will be 18 gauge and negative wire 16 gauge.
I'm gona tap a wire from the cig lighter which has a 10 amp fuse.
After the tap I'm adding a 5 amp fuse which goes to the switch.

The rest should be self explanatory with the diagram.

Makes sense to me, go ahead and install!

You might also consider these 10 inch LED tubes which are very bright: http://www.oznium.com/piranha-bar

If you're tapping off the cig lighter then there's no reason to add another fuse to the mix. The lighter is already fused w/ 10A like you stated.

Two fuses wont hurt anything. Also would the Piranha need a higher fuse or is 5 amp still good?

Edit:
Also do the Prianha lights bend any?

Fuse SHOULD BE based on the wire size, not the load on the circuit. Determining the correct fuse size will be based on what wire you're using. 18awg wire can handle 16A of current. Personally, I would use a 10A fuse. Two fuses won't hurt anything, but it also won't help anything.

No, they do not bend and are inside a hard acrylic case.
