Since Ive started lighting up my car, my dads been a little worried about trying to wire to many things to one fuse.
On my add-a-circuit i have a 20 for my cig lighter, and a 15 that im using for my lights. So my question is, How much is to much when adding lights, before I should start considering another option such as an additional fuse box? Right now I only have 4 single LEDS going to the 15. but in the near future im going to be adding a couple of Piranha Bars, a couple of Tri-Chip Ultra-Flex Waterproof Strips, a possibly a little more that i havent thought of yet. |

4 single LEDs on a 15? I think a 5 should be good enough.. How many amps do you think these LEDs are running at?

ok my point isnt how much do i need for just the 4 lights.
my question is how much could i put on my 15 fuse. i understand 1 amp would be enough for 4 lights. |

I have 4 sets of cathodes, 5 led strips, about 30 or so LEDs, an inferno v1, 4 inside strobe tubes, a music interface, and a few more things all running off a 20 amp fuse right now.....I have had no problems with anything during the 4 years I have had them wired up....also if you have too many things then that is why the fuse it there...it will tell you when you have reached the limit of the fuse....

fuses protect wire, not lights. what gauge wire are you using? that will determine what size fuse you need, then you will know how many lights you can power....

The fuse size depends on the wiring and NOT the load. He should have the same fuse regardless if he has 4 LEDs or 400 LEDs (assuming he uses the same wire gauge). |

Depending on the type of LED, the voltage they consume will vary. A single LED like these take 20 milliamps of power, so you could run 50 of them off 1 amp.
http://www.oznium.com/led/tech These flex ribbon strips take 80 milliamps per foot so every 12 feet would draw 1 amp or you could run about 190 feet of it off a 15 amp fuse http://www.oznium.com/thin-waterproof-ribbon |

No I didn't see it when I did my quick search, but thank you, saving to my favorite places as we speak.
