After the disaster last attempt to remove my wheels myself (Ford torqued one of my lugs to over 250 ft lbs) I finally had the chance to paint my calipers and decided to paint the billet grill and grill surround as well:

Grill I wetsanded with 600 grit and then primed with Krylon black...then painted with 3 coats of Krylon Satin Black

Brake calipers were cleaned with caliper cleaner, then I used a drill with a metal brush attachment to polish them, then painted with 3 coats each of Duplicolor caliper paint.

Looking good. Care to elaborate on the process of cleaning, then painting your calipers. I really gotta do mine. I got the paint, just need to do it.

I talked to a guy tonight about using his paint shop to paint my drivers and passenger side mirrors.

Duplicolor has the black kit....walmart, fred meyer maybe, auto zone, schuck/Kragen should have them in stock in black.

For cleaning it was quite simple. I used a caliper cleaner that comes with the duplicolor kit, you can also use brake cleaner which comes in an aerosol can, spray on and leave it....then I used my power drill with a bit attachment that has a wire brush on it; roughly 3 bucks at autozone, schucks etc. Then just washed them off with regular car wash soap and water, dried and painted icon_wink.gif

I saw a mustang with yellow ones once and it was the worst thing ever done to them....

It would be fine on yours though.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully I can find some time that I won't need the car so that I can get mine done.
