Since I installed the warp core in my amp rack, I figured it would be a nice touch to install some warp nacelles under the side lip of the cargo compartment. I decided to design and build my a pair of 18" long nacelles based on the Federation Starship "prometheus"
Here's the initial designs (full scale)
The plan it so build a ABS and Aluminum sub structure followed by a fiberglass outer skin. I will cut a hole in the fiberglass for tinted/sanded/etched acrylic for the lighting effects. Here's the cool part, I will be linking the blue lights in the main section to the throttle sensitive controls. The more I push on the accelerator, the brighter the nacelles get. |
