So my friend has a problem with his sub/amp/wiring not really sure what it might be considering i didn't install and neither did he... he had "proffesonals" do it, which after seeing how they grounded the wire i'm not even sure i'd call them that.
anywho, the other day it seemed everytime he would accelerate that some connect was lost of some sort and the whole thing would turn off, and everytime braking/no movement at all it'd work fine. he took it in yesterday and they said there was a loose connection at the battery and said they had fixed it. didn't fix it. what could you experts feel as though the problem is? i don't feel like messing with the "proffesionals" work and having them not fix it at all if it comes to it. |

Just check every wire..(i.e. the power wire going from the battery to the amp, the remote wire going from the cd player to the amp and the ground wire) and make sure that every wire is tightly connected.....if something else goes wrong and all the wires are properly connected then I would guess that either something is wrong or loose with the amp.....

id guess a faulty alternator. since it dies when accelerating when engine draws amps. have autozone test it

it blew the fuse on the power wire. that doesnt make sense to have it die when more electricity would come from the alternator. i'm just not going to listen to you since that makes no sense.

what gauge power wire and what is the amp pulling wattage wise? For the love of all things don't tell me something like 18 gauge speaker wire (I've seen it done, no lie, and they had the stones to ask my why they kept blowing the fuse on the amp.

What are you considering "Proffesionals" ??? I've seen some nightmare things done by "Professionals" Such as Drilling into a gas tank , Drilling thru brake lines , drilling into the cars wiring harness , drilling into gas lines,
If you are scared about the ground I'd check THAT first ... Be sure they scraped away the paint /primer down to BARE metal (I'll bet they didn't) Also be sure it's TIGHT and of the proper gauge |

amp is a low end kenwood amp not sure model. it's 8 guage power and ground, not sure on speaker wire, they might not have the right gauge. I really don't like how the ground is "grounded". I think i'm gonna move it for him tomorrow, i don't think they scraped it down to bare metal
these "professionals" would probably be the type that won't fix it if work to has been tampered with. |

If it's acting up you can check the ground with an ohmeter and seee what it reads should be under 1 ohm
